My expectations after decades dining in SLO are not particularly high. What makes Luna Red stand out is the quiet cozy dining experience indoors and beautiful dining outdoors. This is dining, with efficient not hovering staff and tables placed so as to allow for conversation....More

The set up and atmosphere is really cool, menu looks good and promising but in reality it’s just about average to maybe slightly above average. Ordered a few small plates to start, bacon wrapped dates which were delicious, hummus which was really good as it...More

I really like Luna Red. We stop by San Luis Obispo two or three times a year on our drive between LA and SF, and dining at Luna Red has become a ritual we enjoy. The restaurant is very attractive, the ambience is special, the...More

The outdoor seating area is next to the San Obispo Luis Mission Plaza, and it's well shaded so lunches are a delight. The menu is varied, with a wide variety of small plate and regular entree choices. I've eaten there with guests several times and...More

The lunch menu was small, not a lot to choose from. My tacos were disappointing and the tortilla soup was lukewarm. I’m giving it 3 stars only because my husband enjoyed his meal. Sorry but I wouldn’t bother with this place.

We love Luna Red. We were concerned by some staffing changes that happened in the last year, but they seem to have navigated the changes very successfully. The seating here is very enjoyable, whether outside on the best restaurant patio in town, or inside in...More

Did some research of where to eat in SLO and Luna Red came up in a number of searches. It was however really disappointing. Everything sounded great on the menu but was bland and boring in reality. We ordered a number of sharing plates (burrata...More

I like love Luna Red so much. The inside is gorgeous Spanish, and the huge outside patio, along the creek I think, has a great bar and tall tables, along with cushioned long banquets and angled tables. The thing that really got me, outside the...More
