Arrived for a 7:30 pm reservation on a Friday evening and was seated immediately in the heated tent. Surrounding tables were very loud and server apologized as she repeated the special for the evening-sea bass. Appetizer of chicken lettuce wraps was delivered quickly by the...kitchen. The dish is presented artistically as deconstructed and was delicious; however, there was no serving utensil accompanying it and it was served so quickly that we were not able to “catch” the kitchen runner to ask for at least a spoon. Our server never appeared to inquire how our appetizer was. The white linen covered table is laid with only a knife and fork so we used our dinner fork to serve ourselves the lettuce wraps. Upon finishing the appetizer, the lettuce wrap serving plate was removed, but not our individual appetizer plates. Husband left table for restroom and kitchen runner appeared with entrees-sea bass and scallops. Each entree was placed on table without appetizer plates or flatware being removed. Neither did kitchen runner ask if entrees should be kept warm until husband returned to table. Scallops were good; sea bass OK. Server eventually checked on our table and removed the used appetizer plates. In our opinion, a restaurant charging prices such as Novo does, uses white linen tablecloths/napkins, should have servers trained to remove used dinnerware/flatware and offer diners clean flatware before the entrees are served. A birthday was being celebrated and a complimentary chocolate sundae was presented, which was appreciated; however, a helpful hint would be to remove the ramekin of ice cream from the freezer several minutes before garnishing with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and nuts. If visiting SLO again, we would probably choose another restaurant for dinner.More
