so this is our second visit, we were expecting indian fusion, which was our previous experience........this was not the case, there was only one indian dish, the rest was modern Californian. I feel that All Spice has "dumbed down", the food was all well presented and tasted good, the wine list was short and less interesting than originally. they have... More

Great food. You must try the snowball for dessert! Tables are a little bit tight. You almost feel like you are dining in one big table. That's really the only drawback.

Every dish was unique and appealing, from elaborate entrees to simple scoops of ice cream with unusual flavors.

We just tried this place for the first time with our uber-foodie friends, one of whom is an amazing chef. Unbelievable experience (in a good way!) The restaurant is set back from the road/hard to find, and takes up the former dining room and living room of a quaint old house. Not a lot of tables so reservations are needed.... More

Some fusion foods are great and some never make much sense. Sachin Chopra has tried to bring Indian spices like ginger, tamarind and cumin to traditional western fare like lamb chops and short ribs. Same with desserts where saffron and cardamom are added. We shared 4 appetizers; the Indian bread fritters and gnocchi were great, the burrata salad was good... More

Fine dining, excellent service, creative and beautiful presentation of phenomenal dishes. Its a small restaurant tucked off the busy El Camino, but worth finding! Three Michelin stars!!!

Outstanding food preparation and presentation. Unique fusion menu. Intimate, relaxed environment, located in a small home converted to restaurant. A table in the front room, near the fireplace adds to a special atmosphere. Restaurant location behind other small retail and across the street from residential, might at first be off-putting, however do not let that deter you from enjoying one... More

Actually, this is the finest food on the Peninsula. Every dish is magnificently prepared to perfection. I'm not kidding! I have had three dinners there and all have been fabulous!

San Mateo’s most exciting restaurant is All Spice, an eclectic, contemporary eatery from Executive Chef Sachin Chopra. Chef Chopra expertly blends the freshness of Californian ingredients with Indian spices to create an entirely new style of cuisine, at once light, familiar and warmly exotic. All Spice is proud to have been awarded a Michelin star, a distinction reserved for cuisine of the very best quality and consistency. The restaurant is housed in a converted Victorian with beautiful hardwood floors, a fireplace and a variety of architectural details. Each of three intimate dining rooms is decorated in bold, shimmering hues accented with gold. Thirty seats are scattered throughout. Professional service and a thoughtful, moderately priced wine list complement Chopra's dishes. To book reservations for parties of 5 or more, please call the restaurant directly.
