I stopped in because I wanted seafood and this seemed like it would be a good choice since they also sell fresh fish. I was greeted by two friendly staff and seated immediately. I ordered the seafood marinara pasta. The portion was large but the...More

On the water location in Foster City/San Mateo is most pleasant. Usually crowded and busy, thus noisey (downstairs). Upstairs (Top of the Market) is white table cloth, more refined, and a pleasant environment. Food is reasonable in quality, quantity and price. Always dependable, but rarely...More

I’d been looking forward to going back to The Fish Market since my last visit a few years ago. The wedge salad was good, but the grilled halibut was a major letdown. It was significantly over cooked, to the point I thought I was eating...More

I've been a regular customer of the Fish Market for almost as long as they've been open. The food is always good. I generally prefer the relaxed atmosphere downstairs, but I have had dinner in the fancier Top of the Market from time to time...More

The wife and myself dined at the San Mateo location of the Fish Market on a Saturday night and had an overall good experience. The Nautical themed interior was very inviting and the outdoor deck for additional seating provided a good view of the water...More

Great seafood. Casual dining on the main level and fine dining (Top of the Market) upstairs. Never had a bad meal and the seafood is always fresh. You can also purchase fresh seafood to cook at home.

The fish market has been a long standing favorite of people in the neighborhood since it opened. It can definitely get crowded, and the prices are a bit high but the food and atmosphere is worth it. It’s great to sit outside overlooking the lagoon...More

Nestled alongside a quiet lagoon, our fourth restaurant, and the first to feature the upstairs, upscale Top of the Market, has been a dining destination for bay area residents since 1982. This beautiful restaurant also features a full-service cocktail bar and lounge area, and a popular oyster bar. Patio dining is available in the summer months.
