No atmosphere unless you are at the sushi bar but who cares when the quality of the sushi is out of this world! Go hungry. Order from the day's specials and you won't be disappointed. Take a chance on things you've never had because here they will be the best they can be. Not pricey for the quality of the... More

Fresh and perfect. Always great. Sometimes a line to get in but they take reservations for dinner if you can plan ahead. Very friendly staff.

We were in San Mateo visiting family and my daughter wanted to go here. We only get out there once a year or so and she wouldn't come back to Texas w/o eating at Sushi Sam's. There were 8 of us so we made a reservation at 5:00 pm. (when they open). Got there about 10 till and there was... More

If you can sit at counter and order the 'chef choice sushi', you will be served some very good sushi at very reasonable price. There are also many well prepared Japanese dishes on menu. Always packed for good reasons.

Time and time again we like to go and have a great "sushi" meal and we seem to always end up here. Tonight was the best we have ever had. Our wait was about 50 minutes. Well worth the wait! Calvin our host and server sat us at the sushi bar. We had the chefs sushi seasonal special plus other... More

Sushi has always been good at Sam's through the years and service is fast and efficient. Getting a table has now become almost impossible for weekend evenings so we stood in line at 11.30 on a Saturday for lunch. Still outstanding sushi and lunch prices for the meals quite reasonable.

Sushi Sam's is among those rare institutions that manage to give you a consistent experience in terms of food, service, and environment that you feel "right at home" with them. At Sushi Sam's, it's a quirky down-to-earth atmosphere, unpretentious, with the best Sushi in the Bay Area. I went often when we lived in the area. Came back this week... More

My wife and I visit Sushi Sam's a couple of times monthly, and have been doing so since they first opened over 30 years ago. We've watched the facility double in size and have actually watched the wait-staff grow-up and Sam "mature" ;-) The Sushi is remarkable; always fresh, meticulously prepared, appropriately served and reasonably priced. I know you don't... More
