This is a busy place, so reservations are recommended. We usually have lunch here, but this time we tried their new expresso bar. Our coffees were fine and except for the usual acoustic issues.

I just visited the BOWERS MUSEUM and looked forward to a lunch at TANGATA. I thought it would be a nice treat. It is a clean and bright restaurant that has the modern hipster look that is popular these days. I approached the young lady behind the podium at the entrance and asked to look at a menu. She didn't... More

We reserve the seating through open table a week ago. Two days prior to our lunch, I called twice to letting the restaurant know we are celebrating my mother's birthday. Upon arrival, they thought we are party of 9 instead of 5. Again I mention to them we are party of five celebrating birthday. The menu is so un impressive... More

Tried this restaurant for the first time on a visit to Bower's Museum. It was very convenient and had a clean modern look. Acoustics were very poor. We had to talk loudly to hear each other. We placed our order and ended up waiting more than a half hour for our meal. We both had the $15 burger which came... More

After spending the morning and early afternoon looking at the exhibits in the Bower's museum, we decided to try the restaurant. What a treat. There is a slightly limited menu with a current special lobster addition to their normal selections. We did not see any soft drinks (soda) so my husband joined me with a berry ice tea. Very good.... This venue is very convenient, but also a real treat when visiting the museum. The ambience is modern with an Asian flair. The food is delicious and presented beautifully.

I had read the great reviews and since we planned a trip to the Bowers Museum wanted to have lunch there mid-day at Tangata. Our waiter was not very good (did not tell us about special that we saw later going by, never asked if we would like bread). My salad was $18 and I realized it was missing avocado... More

This restaurant is tucked away in the Bowers Museum (which has some wonderful special exhibits.) The food is excellent....I had the best creamed corn soup I've ever had. Menu changes seasonally. Decor is very nice which an outdoor patio area. We usually go for lunch when we are visiting the museum and will never miss a meal at Tangata.
Whenever we had ever traveled to the Bowers Museum, we always noticed that the attached Tangata Restaurant was consistently full with diners-no open tables. A couple weeks ago, after driving up from San Diego, we decided to discover what everyone else had already found out. We made reservations in advance(A MUST!) After viewing the Bowers Museum opening night of "Mummies... More
We went to take the family to the "Mummies of the World" exhibit, and decided in the interest of time we would try Tangata. It was a delightful experience! We ate outside as the weather was perfect. We each ordered something different and cleaned our plates dry! The buyers were great, homemade pasta delicious as were the mini salmon tacos.... More
