Very good small French restaurant, located on a pedestrian shopping walkway just off State Street. For lunch, I had a pretty good caesar salad ($8), which used large crisp lettuce leaves topped with pieces of fried bread. Main course was a flat iron steak ($19), cooked plenty rare with a dark, heavy sauce. Nicely prepared and very tasty. The house... More

We went for dinner based on a friend's recommendation. We had a reservation but the hostess and flighty server couldn't find it, only to tell us later that it was on the list but that the person who took our reservation butchered the spelling so much that no one could tell it was us. ?? The food was very nice.... More

Pleasant quaint atmosphere. Grandma would probably love it except for the hard benches. The heavy decorative kitchen items on shelves overhead of the seating area were a bit off-putting since we live in earthquake country, but a bike helmet would probably do. Bring one for Grandma. Food was "good", but not enough to incline me to return, salmon was served... More

What a delight. This wonderful bistro, tucked in an alley, serves authentic, refined bistro fare. They make wonderful use of the small, superbly decorated space while serving up exquisite dishes. The grilled pork chop was the best I've had and the other two diners were similarly impressed. Le Petit Valentien is the best French bistro I have enjoyed in the... More

I have eaten at Le Petit Valentien many times and it has always been very good. Today it was just okay. My soup was tasty but really too salty and so was the sauce on my steak. The meat was good but came with one bite of potato for $19 for lunch. For that price , it should have been... More

Getting a good dinner is relatively easy. Getting the perfect, relaxed, just the right amount of food/drink/service lunch is more difficult. This place was perfect, a real treat.

Been to this restaurant several times over the last year but this last time was incredible. The Elk special is the best I have every had and paired perfectly with the wine they selected. I usually have the duck from regular menu which is also great. The salads, desserts and wine list are also great. This is a must try... More

This was our 2nd night dinning experience on our 4-night stay in Santa Barbara. I should first qualify my review since our visit followed a full day of wine tasting in the Santa Ynez valley. We selected the restaurant in advance of our trip based on the trip advisor recommendations and ratings. The restaurant is quaint and casual in a... More

Located in a lovely arcade off State Street, this lovely French bistro does not disappoint. Tonight, the place was packed with pre theatre crowd but the service was attentive and the food well priced and delicious. The pork tenderloin, meat pate, salads and fish were all just great. Looking forward to our next visit.

Heeded Trip Advisor's advice and booked a reservation at this wonderful little spot in Santa Barbara. Please note that the entrance is off an outdoor arcade behind State Street where there are a few outdoor tables as well. Our meal was wonderful! The place was busy on a Tuesday evening -- but our service was excellent. We shared a great... More
