I'm a Brit living in California. I don't miss much about Blighty, but occasional fish n chips is one thing. We stopped off in Santa Barbara a week back and I spied the British Union Jack flag outside. We were excited to see what these British fish n chips would be like. First off the place is OK although the... More

Order at the counter then grab a table. Fish comes in small, regular or large portion either by it's self or with fries or with fries and a side. We got a small w/fries & coleslaw and a regular with fries and an 8oz chowder. Chowder had lots of clams. Small fish fillet was big, regular very big. Fries were... More

We recently returned from Scotland where we had lots of great fish and chips. Mac's stands up very well when compared to what we had in the UK. A small, friendly restaurant on State Street, which is the main shopping street in town. So, well located and with good variety on the menu. The fish was nicely battered and fried... More

We ordered the whale and shared it between two people the fish was flaky and perfectly fried. The calm chowder was delicious and for desert we got deep fried Twix "with love" which adds Chantilly cream and chocolate syrup.....it was way too good. It probably won't even be a week before we are back.

Perfect light battered cod.. I found the chips a bit greasy. Yummy yummy tartar sauce. Menu British fare. Large portions for money. Order at the counter. Grab your cutlery and meal delivered to your table.

On the Food Network's "Triple D"show with Guy Fieri, the owner of this establishment--visiting from the UK--said that he and his wife decided to open this place because "there was no good fish place in Santa Barbara". Besides the fact that there are at least a half dozen restaurants that serve food as good or better than this. perhaps no... More

British owned but catering for other tastes I think! Fish looked nice but can't comment as went for a pie, which looked fab but wasnt. Mushy peas didn't taste of anything and the chips where definately not 'chippy chips' more like fried jacket chips which would have been fine for a different sort of meal/menu. Set in to eat and... We tried this restaurant because it was on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. It did not disappoint. We had the Fish and Chips, Clam Chowder and Cole Slaw. All very good. The Fish is very tasty, not too heavy or greasy. Very good. It definitely is a casual place, has a very casual atmosphere. Service was very friendly and efficient. Not... More

Saw on Drive-Ins Diners and Dives, driving down the coast and wanted to stop by. Small place on busy shopping and eatery street. Great crowds. We walked in and ordered our food and found a seat. TVs' on mute (football on this day) and music. Nice and clean environment. We ordered Fish and Chips and Clam Chowder. Clam chowder was... More
