We had a group of five and 2 babies there for lunch. They quickly found a window table for 8 to accommodate the babies. The menu was very complete with very good choices. I had to decide from salads, burgers to lobster sandwiches. It took a while to make this very difficult decision. My lobster sandwich came with a small... More

Unhurried is the best term that I can find to describe the service and experience. Unfortunately, that applies to their efforts to seat us. Despite having a 1 pm reservation, for which they insisted on a credit card number to hold, we had to wait 50 minutes for a table. Service was slow, to the point of inattentive. The food... More

Not what it was is the past. Mostly tourist hoping to see a celebrity. Would be nice to enter the hotel and restaurant without a panhandler opening the front door and insisting you give him a dollar. Only had a credit card. Service was very slow and cool attitude. Have to say the food was still very good, especially the... More

This restaurant gets it all right - light, healthy food in a casual/elegant setting. Wine list not fancy, but with lots of good reasonable choice. We went several times during our stay at Shutters, and had a great meal every time. Impressive!

The restaurant itself is a wonderful place to dine - great views, welcoming atmosphere, and you can hear you dining companions - something too often missing in places that try hard to be hip. Quiet, casual elegance. Service was polished and professional. The food itself was decent, but not great - on par with pricing, I would not write home... More

Enjoyed breakfast and dinner here. Location is great. The food very good. Pricey, but if you don't mind spending some money, it's a lovely stop.

We were there for a Sunday brunch, fully paid by our employer, giving the team a well-deserved break from a difficult week. Boy it was good This is how the rich and beautiful dine.

We decided to try this place for Thanksgiving dinner and we wanted somewhere nice. It was a set menu for $95. Started with the dill shrimp which was tasty & refreshing. With (obviously) the turkey for main which was also a winner. Followed by the apple tart & pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. The apple tart was average. The pastry was... More

We wanted to eat ON the beach, and couldn't do any better than Shutters (didn't know it by its other name). Was surprised it felt more like a spot of New England due to the fireplace, heavy furniture in the lobby, and, of course, the shutters. The restaurant is in the lower level and we got a seat next to... More

We found out about this restaurant online and were in heaven with the ambiance and the location right on the Ocean. We started with the delicious sweet breads brought to the table while we decided what to order. It was a no brainer to order the Lobster Benedict if you love lobster. We also ordered the Lemon Ricotta Pancake upon... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
