Before getting onto the freeway we thought we'd give this restaurant a try for lunch and glad we did. We arrived a little after 12:30 pm and were seated promptly. Excellent food and service. I had the crab enchilada and it was more than enough to eat. The crab was not overpowering in flavor and the entire meal was perfectly... More

We stepped into this restaurant to have a snack and a place to work our computers. We stepped out as fans of mexican food! Basic mexican cuisine, large portions and friendly staff. The place was dead-quiet when we were there, but I suspect it was between lunch and dinner rush.

Familia Diaz food is good and the refried beans are by far my favorite. I did get my order as take out, which I would say it's better at the restaurant. None the less I would highly recommend trying them out.

I will miss my favorite dish, the Especial De La Casa! Too bad that this historic restaurant has to close. I wish the owners the best.

This place just continues to produce quality food and service. I have eaten here for years and returned during my high school reunion for lunch. It was still wonderful food and great service. I highly recommend.

Good food and interesting history at this long time Santa Paula restaurant - owned and operated by the Diaz family for the past 80 yrs. (though, per our waiter, it's been sold to a new owner - due to change hands in June, 2015, but maintaining the same recipes, cooks and staff). We had the "house speciality" carnitas, which were... A long time favorite place for Mexican food, super tasty, an excellent salsa bar! Go there before new owners take over, although the new owners have purchased the great recipes, so we'll keep our fingers crossed that they can pull off the same great taste!

Not the first time we have eaten here, and it probably won't be the last. I had the traditional tacos, not as good as the enchiladas and burritos I have had in the past, but still very good. The service was very good, quick and efficient and the wait staff are excellent. We were there for a lunch and the... More

This restaurant has a For Sale sign, which almost scared us off, but the food is still good. The family operating the restaurant for decades is retiring next year. There is a salsa bar in the center of the restaurant for personally spicing your meal to your preference, which explains other reviews comments on the mild spicing of their meal.... More

Our two visits rendered mixed results. What we liked were the albondigas soup and chili verde. What failed totally were the tamales, which had crusty and tough masa and flavorless pork and sauce. They should never have left the kitchen. It is likely they are not made in-house. Also my wife did not care for her refried beans. Enchiladas, meat... More
