Unusual to be out for dinner alone, I wandered in off the street based on their very interesting menu out front. This is not a destination restaurant but rather an excellent Sausalito eatery. The menu is extensive, creative and well executed. I only went for a few appetizers and a first course so cannot comment on the full menu but... More

I tell people that the menu at Poggio is the kind of food you would eat in Italy, not what you get in most Italian restaurants in SF. And I love it. This place is elegant, and the food is fabulous. It is definitely a special occasion restaurant. My latest favorite is the grilled calamari appetizer -- not breaded like... More

As routine travelers to Italy, we are always skeptical of stateside Italian restaurants that bill themselves as "Italian seasonal", but Poggio's reputation was such that I was willing to give it a try. My oh my wasn't I delighted!!! I'll start with the wine list. Yes, they offer a courtesy nod to California wines, but the heart and essence of... More

Poggio's was one of our Sausalito favorites but it's going downhill on a steady pace. The risotto and ravioli was soggy and tasteless. The steak did look good but sadly we didn't order it. The ambiance is classic old world dining with plenty of wait staff that often appear clueless. Our server was warm and wonderful and she was the... More

Went there with high expectations. The salads were quite weak. It one of the worst Caesar type salads I've ever had. The Beet salad just didn't work. My pasta dish was ridiculously small with very few Clams. It also was not very tasty. All this for beaucoup bucks. The service was decent but the waiter was a bit aggressive with... More

We had a cauliflower custard (with Fontina cheese and Medjool dates) which was rich and very flavorful, an outstanding soup made from three kinds of mushrooms and creme fraiche, and grilled artichokes with Meyer lemon (I think) aioli as appetizers. All very good. Then we had a grilled seabass that the waiters deboned at tableside and grilled short-ribs served at... More

Very nice ambiance in this restaurant with a great menu! From the time we walked in the door we were served well. The service here was very good and we enjoyed our server and talking about his upcoming trio to a Tahoe to enjoy the snow. The pastas were fabulous and the panna cotta desert was to die for! Highly... More

We visited on the recommendation of some locals we had met at Coqueta and we made the trip over to Sausolito on our last day of vacation. The best food without a doubt of our whole trip to San Francisco. Every dish brimming with flavour and fresh produce. The gnocchi was absolutely exquisite and we did not want the meal... More

We went twice to Poggio during a 4 night stay in Sausilito - it's good, honest italian food. Great, attentive service, and a wine list that caters to most tastes and price brackets. They're obviously keen on truffles here, so if you want to ramp-up the price and taste of and already tasty meal then these folks will oblige! Really... More

Absolutely fantastic. Top service, an incredible menu, and wonderfully cooked and presented food. This is one of the best meals we have had in the States and we would highly recommend this wonderful restaurant in a fantastic setting with delightful ambience.
