Fresh fish, good seafood and a hearty meal for a reasonable price. Bring your own wine as the selection is limited. Prompt service and pleasant wait staff.

There are 2 Fishwife restaurants on the Monterey Peninsula of CA. Both have same owner, same excellent food. The Seaside location has inside & outside dining. We sat in the sun under an umbrella & truly enjoyed our fried calamari salads. There are many offerings with fish but we love the innovative salads. They come with fresh cold Salinas Valley... More

Fishwife is consistently delicious and very reasonably priced. It is a small, quaint restaurant with professional and friendly service. The chef has expertise in wonderful sauces and coastal caribbean/mexican cuisine. We frequent Fishwife and especially enjoy the calamari steak abalone style and the baramundi, always served with crisp fresh vegetables as well as rice and black beans. Their homemade dessert... I've been coming here since I was a kid. Their calamari is delicious. They even have good gumbo. I haven't had a bad meal here ever. the staff is very friendly and best of all the food is great.

Excellent seafood and good service. There are a few none seafood items also. There is a small seafood market in the front, and rest is the restaurant. I like meeting friends there for lunch.

I went to lunch with a companion at The Fishwife. We split an appetizer of crab bites and calamari, followed by a cup and a bowl of the soup of the day. Soup was Manhattan Clam Chowder with chorizo sausage. While non-traditional, the clam chowder was good, and the bowl was a much more generous portion than the cup, for... More

We have gone to Fishwife for many years. This time the sole was too smothered in cream sauce, and not very tasty. Side was rice and beans: this is not mexican food. There was a big piece of asparagus. The pasta primavera was fine, but it's not very hard to make

The seafood is somewhat similar, but not the same quality and presentation as the Fishwife restaurant in Pacific Grove. Also the ambiance is ruined by the shape and noisy surroundings of the restaurant. I'd rather not eat there again. The Fishwife in Pacific Grove is a regular destination for me and the wait staff there is much more attentive and... More

After reading other reviews I chose this restaurant for a little variety (and relief) from the places in Monterey during our stay. Service was good, but the food was not as expected. Several of our guests had the fish and chips, all corn meal coated and without flavor...bland. Same comments on the catfish. The calamari was tasty, meaty, and a... More
