Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a favourite meet up for us to have lunch with friends but it was the first time we had visited for Christmas Dinner. It will now be an annual event I am sure. The food was delicious, we all had the roast Turkey,...it arrived beautifully presented and the fresh veg and golden roast potatoes were particularly good. We ordered one gluten free option and that was great too. We had christmas pud, chocolate tart and gin and raspberry cheesecake for dessert. We really enjoyed all of them and the Christmas pudding and cheesecake were gluten free. Lilia and Charlie served us, kept our drinks topped up and were efficient and friendly. It was surprisingly quiet and upon asking we were told that two large groups had cancelled at the last minute, It meant we had a lovely peaceful lunch but it’s hard on a restaurant when they have costs to cover and I am sure would have turned people away to accommodate those large parties. I would like to say thank you to Callum who called me in the week to check whether I had sent menu choices and was really understanding when I realised I had forgotten. He quickly organised a menu to to be sent to me so I could contact friends and email him their choices. Excellent customer service. It’s a great pub with a very good choice of food, lovely staff and is well worth a visit!More

We visited as part of a group of friends 18 (including some children) for our annual Christmas celebration meal. On Sundays they only do their normal roast menu (not the Christmas menu) but this was fine for us and everyone had options to pick from....I had the Duck Bon Bons to start, slow roasted beef for main course and Sticky Toffee pudding for dessert (latter two are in the photos). The duck bon bons were lovely with plenty of hoisin sauce. The Beef was melt in the mouth perfect with decent roasties. The Sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I've had with the sauce caramelised into toffee in places. The service was excellent throughout our visit too. This started a few weeks before our visit when I called to get allergen information which was provided quickly and cheerfully. On the day some of our group arrived before the premises officially opened. They opened up early to let us in which meant we could get out of the bad weather, order drinks then take our table which was ready for us. Service through the meal was well paced - attentive, but not overbearing, while not being too fast or slow. All the food was excellent as were the drinks. Our sitting was limited to three hours but this was made clear at time of booking and again on arrival, and we had enough time to complete our meal and settle the bill before we had to vacate the restaurant table and decamp to the bar area for more drinks. I am looking forward to visiting again.More

This is hands down the best pub I’ve ever been too. If you want great food, great atmosphere, and first rate hospitality, then visit the Cock Inn in Sarratt. The Cock Inn is one of the last remaining independently owned and run pubs in the...area. Walking in is like transporting yourself back in time to this traditionally British pub which offers a fantastic and varied menu, a selection ales, stouts, lagers and wines. Open fire in the winter and a welcoming atmosphere from the hosts. I walked 11 miles to be comforted specifically by this pub. Amazing. Get here!More

We originally only just came in for a drink after walking in the local area but the food looked fantastic so we stayed for lunch. The homemade lamb pie which was the “pie of the day” was delicious. Sadly we found ourselves to full for...a pudding. The service we received from Callum and Charlie was warm friendly, welcoming and humorous. We will be back again and would recommend too anyone who’s looking for a traditional pub lunch.More

I came here for the fireworks night on Saturday and it was amazing! I was so impressed with the fireworks display and how smoothly everything was ran. The layout was ideal and the barbecue and hog roasts were fantastic. I was speaking to Charlie in...the horse box outside and he was very friendly and had everything under control 👍 10/10 would recommend to anyone, all the staff were excellent!More

This is the third year we have been for the fire works and every year it gets better and better. There is a reason why everyone in the village comes out and and then some. Full credit to the organisers for keeping everyone entertained and...safe. Credit it also due to all the hardworking staff inside (and also outside) the pub making sure getting everyone served as quickly as they can. We also really enjoyed the George Michael act at the end of the night. It will be nice to see more live music again soon.More

Attended the fireworks event last night with the whole family, including my two small grandchildren. We were having a lovely time, all adults and children enjoying food and drinks. Spending a considerable amount of money. My small granddaughter had a small pot of pasta from...home and grandson had a yogurt, tiny snacks . We were approached by a member of staff who berated us for bringing in food. My son responded to him and the manager appeared . He also refused to listen or behave in a reasonable manner and told us to leave. The table next to us had Tupperware full of food. I am thinking the staff member came to the wrong table, however, to be spoken to as we were and treated as we were, is totally unacceptable and unnecessary. What is wrong with a landlord who feels this is acceptable? Shame on you and if you are venturing there with children, be very wary.More
