Nice vibe in the various rooms of the building. Formal and well trained staff who move everyone through fairly quickly but without rush. The food was good, no question, but doesn't match the price tag. A Pepsi is $4.00, so that should set the tone. Meat was prepared well, but a bit fatty. Bread basket was fair. Salad dressings were... This review was difficult for me. I was really torn between 4 and 5 stars. I loved the place. The decor was wonderful and the service was above and beyond. Here's what stopped me from giving the 5th star. The room we were in by the windows went back and forth from cold to warm. As to the food, the... More

It was a real treat to dine at The Fort! While it was expensive, averaging about $45 a plate, it was well worth it. The Fort has a unique history and is a favorite for many musicians who play at nearby Red Rocks. Our party feasted on buffalo, elk, quail, and salmon, and everyone loved it. I have always liked... Had a group of 6 for dinner tonight and it was an amazing experience. The ambience and service were top notch and the food was fantastic. The quail and buffalo ribeye were as good as it gets. Wife and daughter had the salmon and trout which they ranted about. Our grand daughter thoroughly enjoyed the leek and garlic mashed potatoes.... More

Haven't been here for years and was wary with all these new reviews. But I had always loved it. The quail was as excellent as I remember, the duck quesadillas I could've eaten all night, the tongue appetizer, the bean dip, the prickly pear cocktail, the moscow mule, the bloody mary, the game plate. All excellent. The filet had great... More

This is a quirky restaurant and is something a bit different from the norm. I tried a number of different things - bison testicles (battered) amusingly named as Rocky Mountain Oysters, bone marrow, elk, bison and quail which was a fun experience. All were cooked well enough but nothing exceptional. I think the food is decent but is certainly expensive... More

I think we had the same server as an earlier review. Lady with gray hair very curt attitude that totally intimidated my wife and made us feel very uncomfortable. She seemed put out when we were not ready to order the wine we wanted as we had no chance to review the wine menu. My wife and I wanted to... More

The ambiance seemed appropriate and the many endorsements on the walls raised expectations. However having just eaten here, they must point to a time when the service and food were quite different. Known for it game meats, I decided to order the grilled Lamb chops. While I enjoy Elk and Buffalo, the milder flavor of the Lamb was overpowered by... More

My husband, father in law, and I had dinner here last evening. I had heard great things and was excited to finally eat here. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. The waitress had quite an attitude. She started by only giving us an appetizer and drink menu and pretty much insisting that we have an appetizer. We had been gambling all... More

Description
Situated in the Red Rocks country 17 miles southwest of Denver on Hwy 285, The Fort is a true replica of Bent's Fort, the first American community west of the Missississippi & rendezvous of Kit Carson & other "Mountain Men". The nine dining rooms, seating 350, are white plastered over adobe. Unusual but hearty dishes, typical of the early West, are provided from open grills. Waugh!
