Everything was perfect. The place was nearly empty but the other places we looked at were either too full, too noisy or closed so we took a chance. It was great for a romantic evening, soft music, delicious food perfectly prepared and presented. the waiter was very attentive and made good suggestions and brought us beer samples to find the... I visited Shallots on a recommendation from the Head Chef at Mount Princeton, Matt Roberts who is a long time friend of Don (Owner of Shallots). I really enjoyed the curry with chicken and the German chocolate cake! Cool vibe at the bar and right in the heart of downtown Salida! I highly recommend this to anyone local or out... More

There were four of us that had decided to give this place a try during a visit to Salida. The owner sat and chatted with us for a while, which was lovely. But our server disappeared many times for a little too long, and we were one of two tables. The bottle of white wine we ordered was "not cold"... More

OMG! I started off with a cup of awesomeness. Miso ramen pork vegetable soup. Absolutely the best ever. It was perfect, right down to the bread. Mine came with homemade potato chips. Hot and Crisp.! My husband had a steak sandwich that the flavors were fantastic. Beans were also great.

We thought we would try this restaurant for a special occasion. We didn't want to wait an hour so we sat at a long wine type bar, but it was not at the bar. It took so long to get noticed, so long to get a drink, so long to place the order, so long to receive the order, ...... More

So, this was our second visit here, the first time we came it took 20 minutes to get a Bloody Mary and then we sat and waited and waited for our food. I know sometimes that happens and the food was nice so we decided to give them another go today . We were sat at a fairly wobbly high... More

We first went to Shallots just after they opened, the food was good but the place was chaotic and unorganized, it took 30 minutes to get a Bloody Mary! Anyway we went back today to see if things had improved, NO REALLY! We were sat immediately on a tiny table in the back, it was fine, the place was busy... More

How did this happen? Such a highly rated establishment falls off the cliff with our meal. This was lunch, not dinner, but based on our visit we will not venture on to dinner. We ordered the "homemade" tomato soup and the ribeye sandwhich with provolone cheese.

We ate here one night looking for a little more upscale establishment in town and were highly impressed. Their food has an asian slate on american meals which was tasty without being to far out of our comfort zone. If you happened to be there during the fall ask for their peach margarita! You will not be disappointed.

Quaint, fun and fantastic food. The owners are fun and very knowledgeable. They suggested the spring rolls appetizer, which has a Vietnamese slant. He showed us how to construct it - lettuce leaf, large mint leaf, pickled veggies, 1/2 spring roll - then roll it all up and dip into the ginger-something sauce and WOW!! Explosion of complex flavors that... More
