We came here for the first time as a family for fathers day. How disappointing it was. When entering the restaurant there was no smiles/warm welcome, so our first impression did not feel good. The restaurant wasn't busy but had to wait a while for...the waitress to come and take our food order. When our food came we wasn't asked by the waitress at all how our food was on both our starters and mains. Mushroom soup was bland, thick and powdery. Chicken fillet, roast potatoes were dry. The waitress didn't ask us if there was anything else we would like. We had to ask for more gravy and salt. We also had to ask for more drinks. They couldn't even get my sons latte right, It came without milk, my son said this wasn't what he asked for and the waitress was rude with her reply so he cancelled it. I made a complaint about the bill because we were still charged for the soups that wasn't eaten [I would like to say a young waiter was polite and sorted out our complaint, but we still had to pay for one of the soups because it was half eaten, we didn't pay for the service charge}. The restaurant is a lovely place in the country side but unfortunately disappointed with the overall service and food. Such a shame.More

On arrival the pub was empty (1pm) Sunday lunch, no warm welcome. We ordered our Sunday lunch which came very quickly I suspect pre plated like warm food and jug of nuclear hot gravy. Small portion minimal veg and no mash as advertised. We asked...for a side of stuffing but they had none, we got 2 carrots and 2 roast potatoes on the plate, then 10 min later we got a bowl of boiled cabbage and more boiled carrots. Very basic food we didn’t stay for pudding.More

The food and drinks were amazing and the service was warm and friendly, the restaurant and the pub itself was very clean. My wife got the wrong meat but they were very kind and brought her a brand new dish. The staff were so friendly...we really enjoyed it and we will be coming back!More

We recently visited this lovely little place for the fixed three course lunch menu. As a large group (14 adults) who's original booking elsewhere was cancelled with almost no notice this wonderful pub stepped up and saved the day for our lunch plans. They gave...us a wonderful area to sit with plenty of space. The fixed lunch time menu was an absolute bargain (£11 for two course or £15 for three) and was clearly designed to offer quality and carefully crafted food in mind. There were three possible options for each course which allowed the chef to really make the meals special and there was something for everyone's tastes. The service staff were great really friendly, efficient, and accomodating - nothing seemed too much trouble for them. I think if you're looking for a peaceful country pub with high quality food at great prices I would sincerely recommend this venue. Very warm and inviting atmosphere and a lovely experience.More

We haven’t been to The Neville Arms in many years but here we are. Nice welcome and lovely decor. Waitress seemed a little unfamiliar with the menu! Appetisers were mediocre. Prawn and smoked salmon had a small piece of smoked salmon and a few prawns....It was supposed to come with sourdough.. I asked where it was and was told they’d run out… apparently they’d had a busy Saturday the day before… hummm!! so they served it with normal crusty baguette instead but didn’t bother to tell us before we ordered. It was the same bread as they’d already brought to the table!! Appetisers were expensive ££! We asked for no vegetables or potatoes to be served with the chicken main … it came with vegetables and potatoes!! Have to say that the lamb was served pink just as we requested and was excellent as were all other aspects of our main. Lack of attention to detail .. we had to ask for cutlery for our mains…after the mains arrived! Then had to ask for spoons for the veg. Then had to ask for a spoon for the mint sauce. We ordered a Gordon’s … they had run out. So, there was a lack of coordination and planning and attention to detail.More

Dined here regularly years ago. Rang in week prior to our Sunday booking for details of Tarot reader event. Not much information and requested we call Saturday. Rang but no reply so called in. I am in a wheelchair and we use the entrance via...the garden and on opening the gate were immediately met with a very large dog mess in the middle of the pathway. Spoke to very helpful member of staff who said the Tarot lady was not there for another hour. Mentioned the dog mess and he said the dogs were let out early and it would be cleaned up before any patrons arrived. Arrived Sunday to find it had been kicked to the side of the path by about 3 inches! Entered by garden gate to see four or five baby highchairs stacked which looked like they had not been cleaned for a long time with stains all over them! Not a good start. We were shown to a table, one of the 1st to arrive and ordered our drinks. I asked for a ginger ale and was told they had run out! The glasses on the table for water looked grubby and were extremely marked with fingerprints, and my husband actually cleaned them with his serviette before we used them. We ordered our dinner which was absolutely delicious and good portions. We were asked what sauces we would like. I asked for cranberry and was told they had run out of that also. For dessert we requested two Eton Mess at a cost of £7 a portion. The first portion was very small and the second was literally a desert spoon.!! Almost like they had run out! Absolutely shocking but we were in a difficult position as the lady with us was paying for our meal as a present and we did not feel we could send it back. We did however, mention this to the waitress when she came to clear the table, and she said she would mention it to the chef. Don’t think the chef was bothered as heard nothing more. At the end of the meal my husband escorted our 94 year-old friend to the car and returned to assist myself. On the way back he passed the Manager and a member of staff coming out the rear of the building deep in conversation talking about someone loudly saying’he was such a f..,,.g p..,k! Such a shame as they had requested people frequent the restaurant and they have good reviews on food. Just requires attention to detail and be careful what you are saying whilst you have patrons there. LorraineMore

A very fortuitous find for Sunday Lunch. We were looking for somewhere different within 30 minutes of Nottingham. How my wife stumbled across the Neville I will never know but it was faultless. Not quite ready when we arrived a little early we were brilliantly...dealt with. A drink sorted (Timothy Taylor, brilliant). We were seated and looked after, the barman recommended our meals and they could not have been better. The first review I’ve left in many a year but the Nevile is a must visit. I only wish it could be transported to my home village.More
