Fantastic Sunday lunch- top quality. We had the chicken and nut roast and they were both superb. Banana pan Scott’s was delicious. Great service also.

We recently visited this lovely little place for the fixed three course lunch menu. As a large group (14 adults) who's original booking elsewhere was cancelled with almost no notice this wonderful pub stepped up and saved the day for our lunch plans. They gave...us a wonderful area to sit with plenty of space. The fixed lunch time menu was an absolute bargain (£11 for two course or £15 for three) and was clearly designed to offer quality and carefully crafted food in mind. There were three possible options for each course which allowed the chef to really make the meals special and there was something for everyone's tastes. The service staff were great really friendly, efficient, and accomodating - nothing seemed too much trouble for them. I think if you're looking for a peaceful country pub with high quality food at great prices I would sincerely recommend this venue. Very warm and inviting atmosphere and a lovely experience.More

We haven’t been to The Neville Arms in many years but here we are. Nice welcome and lovely decor. Waitress seemed a little unfamiliar with the menu! Appetisers were mediocre. Prawn and smoked salmon had a small piece of smoked salmon and a few prawns....It was supposed to come with sourdough.. I asked where it was and was told they’d run out… apparently they’d had a busy Saturday the day before… hummm!! so they served it with normal crusty baguette instead but didn’t bother to tell us before we ordered. It was the same bread as they’d already brought to the table!! Appetisers were expensive ££! We asked for no vegetables or potatoes to be served with the chicken main … it came with vegetables and potatoes!! Have to say that the lamb was served pink just as we requested and was excellent as were all other aspects of our main. Lack of attention to detail .. we had to ask for cutlery for our mains…after the mains arrived! Then had to ask for spoons for the veg. Then had to ask for a spoon for the mint sauce. We ordered a Gordon’s … they had run out. So, there was a lack of coordination and planning and attention to detail.More

Dined here regularly years ago. Rang in week prior to our Sunday booking for details of Tarot reader event. Not much information and requested we call Saturday. Rang but no reply so called in. I am in a wheelchair and we use the entrance via...the garden and on opening the gate were immediately met with a very large dog mess in the middle of the pathway. Spoke to very helpful member of staff who said the Tarot lady was not there for another hour. Mentioned the dog mess and he said the dogs were let out early and it would be cleaned up before any patrons arrived. Arrived Sunday to find it had been kicked to the side of the path by about 3 inches! Entered by garden gate to see four or five baby highchairs stacked which looked like they had not been cleaned for a long time with stains all over them! Not a good start. We were shown to a table, one of the 1st to arrive and ordered our drinks. I asked for a ginger ale and was told they had run out! The glasses on the table for water looked grubby and were extremely marked with fingerprints, and my husband actually cleaned them with his serviette before we used them. We ordered our dinner which was absolutely delicious and good portions. We were asked what sauces we would like. I asked for cranberry and was told they had run out of that also. For dessert we requested two Eton Mess at a cost of £7 a portion. The first portion was very small and the second was literally a desert spoon.!! Almost like they had run out! Absolutely shocking but we were in a difficult position as the lady with us was paying for our meal as a present and we did not feel we could send it back. We did however, mention this to the waitress when she came to clear the table, and she said she would mention it to the chef. Don’t think the chef was bothered as heard nothing more. At the end of the meal my husband escorted our 94 year-old friend to the car and returned to assist myself. On the way back he passed the Manager and a member of staff coming out the rear of the building deep in conversation talking about someone loudly saying’he was such a f..,,.g p..,k! Such a shame as they had requested people frequent the restaurant and they have good reviews on food. Just requires attention to detail and be careful what you are saying whilst you have patrons there. LorraineMore

A very fortuitous find for Sunday Lunch. We were looking for somewhere different within 30 minutes of Nottingham. How my wife stumbled across the Neville I will never know but it was faultless. Not quite ready when we arrived a little early we were brilliantly...dealt with. A drink sorted (Timothy Taylor, brilliant). We were seated and looked after, the barman recommended our meals and they could not have been better. The first review I’ve left in many a year but the Nevile is a must visit. I only wish it could be transported to my home village.More

We used to love the food and service here, so decided to book in for Saturday night with friends. The pub was pretty empty, only 3 tables full in the restaurant and we were shown to our table. The staff were all new and they...definitely need some more training as they didn't know the menu, or the drinks on draft (Manager: Just write it on the back of your order pad to help them out a little) No wine menu or drinks menu on the tables so the waitress came and we ordered drinks. They came promptly although they had no Sauv Blanc... This is pretty much a must for a pub serving food as many people drink it, but hey, we moved onto the starters. Starters were nice. One of the party ordered the languistine which came out with no finger bowl. The bowl then arrives with scalding hot water so we had to decant it into the shell bowl and pour in the table water to cool it down. We were offered bread which we all had but we're given two slices of rock hard butter for the whole table. We asked 3 extra times for more butter and they came out 3 separate times with a thimble of butter which made us all laugh. The mains came but all one by one, and the table service was sloppy, leaning over people to place plates down, putting them in wrong places. We also didn't have any cutlery until all. 4 plates had come out and then there was no real urgency so left waiting. The food was the saving grace here, lamb was excellent and chicken was really nice too. The food has always been good here however the service has gone down hill. The above are all simple things that can be fixed with training and attention to detail which you used to have as a pub/restaurant. Put some love back into the Neville ArmsMore

We read a social media posting which told us that, after some difficulties, the new-ish Nevile management think they have got their act together, and they hope they can now win local customers back. So we gave the Nevile another try. They're right! They now...have a really top-class chef, and we had a great evening. The only downside was that there weren't many people there. So come on Kinoulton, give the Nevile a chance, use it or lose it!More
