The interior is beautiful, very tastefully done with a Restoration Hardware feel, high ceilings and subtle color scheme. The pictures do not do it justice. At Christmas time they always have a lighted tree in the entrance hall. I just love that. The dining room is best...away from the bar because it can get a little loud, and because most... More

The best food in the State. If you go through Danbury or the Danbury Mall a must! I had the sea bass and my husband had steak. Great atmosphere - really sheik.

The rating is average because of the staff. The food is generally good albeit steamed vegetables should not be bathed in butter. The staff seems to just process you. Very superficial, high turn over causes many rank amateur service people behind the bar, where I always sit. I have been to Max's well over 50 times and have never been... More

We went for the first time to the restaurant for New Year's Eve. We had early reservations and were unimpressed with the table they attempted to seat in. But they did step up and told us we could have any other one in the restaurant. Our waiter was very nice, and the staff is upbeat and pleasant. There was a... More

I agree with the other review that the service was awful - the waiter did not smile and was annoyed that we did not order all his specially aged (expensive) beef. Instead we enjoyed our friends' company and delicious salmon and other dishes despite his begrudging service. The other annoyance is that the bill includes the gratuity but they still... More

Four of us met at Max 40 to celebrate my birthday. Two of our guests had been there before a few times and had raved about it. We were not disappointed at all. Service was professional and excellent. One of our friends who had been a maitre d' at a fine french restaurant several years ago remarked on the fine... More
