It's always good to come here super hungry like I did! I had the French onion soup to start which was so good! They do an amazing French onion. The cheese is super thick and delicious. They put so much cheese that theirs the burnt crust cheese on the side of the bowl. Which for me is like a crunchy... More

We used to love this place and looked forward to our annual Christmas Eve Feast with family and friends when we always go all out with cocktails, appetizers, top end entrees and dessert. This year it was such a disappointment we left without dessert. The waiter was inept, the martinis warm and poorly made, the clams casino burned beyond recognition,... More

Hadn't been here for a few years - first off, the update is very pleasing, glad they did it. Went with another couple who go 2 or 3 times a year, & they love the place. They ordered their usual. I had, for the first time, oysters Rockefeller for my appetizer. They were creamily delicious! Salad was fresh & cool.... More

We are always happy at Jim Barbaries, and it is consistently great food, and service. It is our 'go to" place and I like the fact that it is a Danbury institution. Although it is always busy and the parking lot seems to always be filled no matter what time of day (a good sign), we always luck out and... More

I always meet my friend here for lunch. We never had a bad meal. The staff are friendly. The clam chowder is very thick and creamy. No matter what we order it is always good.

Our local men's club had our monthly dinner here, although we are all in a surrounding town, not in Danbury. Our private area was well-laid out. Our only issue was noise from the regular dining room. That normally wouldn't be a problem, but we had a speaker. The food was delicious, and the servers worked hard to make sure we... More

The service was slow but very nice staff. Food is average. Wish it had a bit more flavor. I may give this place a second chance - hopefully they will be better in the future.

Went for dinner and was very pleased. From the host greeting me to the waiter, Mark, everything was as you would expect in a first class restaurant. The decor is definitely steakhouse and the steak was perfect. Cooked as requested, very little fat, seasoned and well presented. I really enjoyed the food and ambiance. Would definitely go back!

My husband used to go to Jim Barbarie's quite frequently, however, when I went vegan (for ethical reasons), we determined there were just not enough options for me. Last night, however, Irene and the chef made it happen. I was so grateful, as I really love the place. It is very cozy, especially in the bar area. It is dimly... More

They have an early bird special that includes soup or salad and an entree. No skimpy portions and the food has consistently been very good.Drinks are a very fair size and the staff really fusses over you.
