We've been going to The Place for decades. Everything is cooked on an open flame pit and is delicious. Clams, mussels, lobster, steak, and don't forget a couple of ears of corn on the cob!

This is a great outside BBQ restaurant that is a must place for us to visit every summer. Excellent fish, seafood, chicken and beef. You are allowed to bring in your own wine and beer and can even bring in your own sides. Very casual and great with kids and families.

We saw "The Place" featured on a travel channel show and really wanted to try it out. The Place is a unique place to go, it's fun and inviting and the food is really good. Definitely try the clams!!!

It's the kind of place you go to when you're looking to sit outside, chill with your friends an enjoy the summer air. It's kind of like camping in that there is a huge fire pit and you sit on short logs instead of chairs. There's also one big giant menu for everyone to read rather than paper menus on... More

I found the same place, same lobster and clam grilled on open fire, corn on the cob grilled also over the fire, same atmosphere of easygoing open air eatery as I remembered. I was there first time when I was at Yale and ever since I wanted to revisit this place. Now with friends we succeeded to find The Place... More

The Place has been in Guilford for as long as I can remember You can bring your own appetizers, side dishes, and drinks. Some people even bring tablecloths. It is an outside environment and you sit on tree stumps. The food, and the service is always excellent. There is a limited menu, but definitely something for everyone. Very popular in... More

This low frills high thrills place sits innocuously off the post road in Guilford. Come early to grab seating (normally wood tree stumps) and a painted plywood table. BYOB and appetizers and pick from a fresh variety of seafood. They do have ribeye and chicken if you aren't into seafood and a couple veggie options. I recommend bringing a cooler... More

I have heard so much about this place, had to check it out. Went there for lunch to celebrate my birthday. Menu is all fresh off the Barbeque. Brought a green salad, wine to share. My son brought some beer. "Plant your rump on a bump". Nice round tables with tree stumps to sit on. Some choose to bring their... More

This is a cute little local, no frills (literally) restaurant. You sit on wooden stumps and they serve you a la carte items. They make everything on the fire grille. The food is a bit expensive for what you get, and it is byob. We come to this restaurant when we have company because its just fun. Its really a... More
