Had been given a "Luxury Afternoon Tea" voucher as a Christmas gift and booked in for this afternoon at 3pm. Unfortunately, the stormy weather affected our original plans and we ended up at The Talbot Inn much earlier than expected. The very helpful receptionist assured us this wouldn't be a problem and we were accommodated straight away. What a pleasure... More

A friend & I enjoyed a lovely lunch ... it was my first visit to the Talbot. Our table was in the conservatory part of the restaurant & the unseasonally warm weather meant we were able to enjoy the view of the garden whilst dining with the doors open. The decor is delightful ... I particularly liked the different coloured... More

Had lunch here with a good friend today. Despite living quite close I had never eaten in the restaurant here before and I'm absolutely delighted to have discovered this place so close to home. We were extremely impressed with our experience from start to finish. Beautiful restaurant with great decor and atmosphere. The service was impeccable, so friendly, attentive and... More

Really not certain how to write this review, the restaurant was a bit of a puzzle to me. Overall ok but the service needs improving, I got the distinct impression that the waiters need a lot more training. They certainly seemed unsure of what to do at times, I won't go into details, but they seemed not to have any... More

We had to find an alternative venue to host a training course, we used a small meeting room at the Talbot. We were well looked after throughout the day with a good lunch and plenty of refreshments.

I came with my family on a Wednesday evening. It was pretty quiet, but the food was extremely slow and the staff did not seem to look around to see if anyone needed help at all. It was very difficult to get their attention. They messed up the drinks orders several times and the drinks took a long time too.... More

Had an incredible meal in the restaurant at the hotel. We were saying at the hotel so no need to travel. They have a very well known chef, fantastic food, very tasty and perfect size portions. Staff lovely , made us feel very welcome and not rushed at all. Rare to get a great hotel complimented with a great restaurant.... More

Returned to the area last weekend after a couple of years away and decided to have a meal at the Talbot. We could tell straight away that there had been changes recently , much fresher décor and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Food was first rate too ( especially the Burger ) and we will definitely be back

Description
A famed coaching inn with a restaurant in the leafy village of Ripley, just a short drive from nearby Woking, The Talbot is said to have been the place at which love blossomed between Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton. It's not just this tale that gives The Talbot such a sense of romance, from the traditional old beamed pub area to the glamorous glass backed restaurant, The Talbot is an obviously special place. Spacious and modern, the restaurant is light and airy during the day, a cosier feel falling over the room after dark, while outside, a beautiful garden and champagne terrace are the ideal al fresco spots. With an AA Rosette to its name, The Talbot offers food of a very high standard, garnering a mention in the Michelin guide. Chef Gavin Chilcott creates not only pub style classics, a must in the 15th century bar, but stylish modern British dishes with a strong focus on locality and seasonality.
