Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Warm and friendly welcome and service. The choice of food was excellent. Generous portion sizes, and reasonably priced and dogs welcome. A must visit if passing by. Highly recommended.

The most terrible abuse of non drinkers I have ever witnessed in any public house. A poor girl who was not drinking as she was the designated driver had personal abuse levied at her from the female barmaid. It was England v Wales World Cup...evening and due to the abuse about not buying drinks the driver burst into tears and had to leave. I mean her friends were buying alcohol, she just was not. I will never ever come to this pub again. Disgusting to say the least, for a pub staff member almost criminal. I will tell all my friends about this. Well do e to the barmaid.More

The lady behind the bar confronted my friend because she decided to not buy a drink. All others in the group bought a drink but she was driving. After being called out in front of a number of people she felt uncomfortable and left the...pub. The bar lady proceeded to talk poorly about my friend with locals within our ear shot. Strangest most uncomfortable experience I have had in a pub would 100% NOT recommend.More

I am vegan and didnt fancy the vegan option, asked if I could just have some roast potatoes (they are cooked in veg oil) unfortunately they had roast dinner bookings and didnt have enough which was fine, but later the lady cooking bought me out...of bowl of roast potatoes she had left and didnt charge me, which was so lovely and thoughtful of them, really appreciated, lovely facilities, clean and friendly, if you are in Debenham a must stop for a drink or food.More

Landlord very rude to dog owners, considering it's supposed to be dog friendly. A dog barked reacting to barking outside the pub. He sat at the opposite side of the pub and called out "what's going on over there." Then when the dog barked again...for the same reason he called out " you will be asked to leave". The dog owner lives in the village and is a regular. When she tried to explain what the situation was he said "then report me to the dog people" . He has lost another customer. Including me and a lot of other regulars. Please do not spend any more money in this pub. I will never recommend it until new managers are employed. Shame it was a great little watering hole. 😞😞😞More

Stopped off for a quick bite to eat with our two children on the way back from a week away. Lovely lady behind the bar was really friendly and attentive as were the others and its a shame we couldn't stop for longer. Quaint and...comfortable, looks like they had a really good selection of ale and a great relatiinship with the locals. Would visit again for sure. 👍🏻More

Such a shame to be the last surviving pub in Debenham... please go in if you’re visiting as it is lovely. We were staying with relatives for one week and popped in here about 3 times!! Friendly owners made us feel welcome and they’re definitely...practicing safe social distancing measures. Lovely outdoor area with protection from all weathers. The food looked great and we would have eaten there had we not already been catered for. Keep up the good work!!More

Yesterday, my wife and i took my aged aunt to Debenham, a village which was new to us but which my aunt knew well. The Woolpack is the only surviving pub in Debenham and is well worth a visit. Good traditional English food. Service between...courses was a little slow, but friendly staff more than compensated for this.More

Staff are unfriendly. And positively anti customer. Got rudeness from one member of staff then the shift changed and I got the same standard of rudeness from the next one. For asking the same question about a meal. Will NOT bother to continue to go...there. I will go to the Victoria instead. They should be nicer to regular customers.More

My partner and I arrived in Debenham on new years eve with no plans at all sorted, we popped in to the Woolpack mid-afternoon for a quick pint. The porter on hand pull was exceptional, the locals and staff were very friendly, so much so...we managed to get ourselves an invite to the NYE party! We had a fantastic evening, the landlady and landlord were great hosts. Best real pub I have been to for a long time.More
