Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We’re lucky enough to live quite close by so have been for food quite a few times and perhaps we’ve started to take it for granted that we have such a great pub close by. We had friends from Surrey staying this week and all...came for lunch. The food as always was great and it was fantastic to see all the kids (teens) trying different stuff rather than standard pub grub. Our friends absolutely loved the food, atmosphere and location and it reminded us how lucky we are to have this as a local pub!More

Lovely village pub, very friendly and great food, good selection of gins, if you like them. This would be my ideal local. Staff were very friendly from the moment I emailed them for a booking.

Excellent food, excellent service and a great atmosphere in this pub. Despite a very busy Friday evening, we were served quickly and efficiently and did not wait long for our food. Great choice for our vegetarian friend too.

This lovely pub is set in a pretty little village with ample parking in the village square outside. The choice of food was excellent, almost too much choice, and catered well for the gluten-free members of our party. The pub was cosy and well-decorated, and...very friendly. The food was very tasty and we will definitely be back again. Highly recommended!More

We visit The Bell weekly or monthly, they never let us down. A family pub, so warm and welcoming. I once fainted due to heat, nothing could be more effort to look after me, reassuring me that 6 ft 10 cricketers just off the pitch...do exactly the same thing! If you go no where else in Devon go here. Staff and food lovely and also good value. Also for older persons, with smaller appetite they arrange smaller plate. Go go go, you will not be disappointed. xxxMore

Friendliest pub in a long time! Arrived on a busy Saturday night from a campsite with no Wi-Fi. We were welcomed in (with our dog) and had the most delicious steak pie. Absolutely fabulous pub.

Ate here whilst on holiday in Devon. Chose the venue cos of the Google reviews. So glad we found this pub. The food was amazing. I had the pulled pork Mac n cheese and hubby had the chilli. Having worked in the catering biz, I’m...pretty hard to please and can usually find something that’s not quite right and try as I might, I have to admit defeat and just accept the fact that the food served here is faultless so do yourself a favour and visit The Bell Inn; you won’t regret it.More

Came here on our last night on our holidays yesterday 14/09/2023 As you walk into the pub you are met by a fantastic bar with so much to choice from every drink you can think of !!! We got a table ,spoilt on the food...on what to have We went for the Home made Turkey & Ham Pie , just amazing it was packed with big chunks of Turkey & Ham , home made chips were amazing peas and onion rings ,one of the best pies we have had. I tried the Exmoor Beer and the George Cider just really nice. Had a chat to the Guy behind the bar who said his Grandfather brought the pub in 1975, his Mum was taking the orders lovely friendly lady as well. Just wished we had found this pub at the start of our week as we would have gone 3/4 times for a drink as well. This is a must for anyone who likes GOOD QUALITY FOOD at a fair price and PLENTY on your plate , to many pubs charge crazy prices for nowt on your plate , but THE BELL INN give 100% on food and want you to go back again 10/10More

Have been meaning to visit here for a very long time, and TBH I am gutted i had not visited before now that i have visited, I planned an overnight stay for one night which during our visit we had lunch, evening meal and breakfast....I made the booking on line and within a very small amount of time Lynn called me up to confirm all in place for me, seemless. we arrived saturday lunch time and immediately felt relaxed, we enjoyed some drinks in the amazing beer garden before taking on lunch, a very good Lunchtime menu offering, we didnt have to wait long for our food, which was excellent, and my wife choose from the extensive GF menu and fully enjoyed her lunch, after some more drinks, we were shown to our room which for one night was sufficient for us (more later) we went down for pre dinner drinks to find the bar a hive of activity, and absolutely buzzing, it seemd ALL the tables were resevered (we reserved ours when booking to be on the safe side) after a couple of drinks in the beer garden we were shown to our table in a timely manner, again anothe very extensive menu including some specials which i want 3 out of the 4 but sadly couldnt mange that, plumped for the sea bass rissotto with Squid and Mussells, WOw Wow wow, what a good choice i made (But tBH i beleive anythig would have been good looking at what was coming out of the kitchen) we had a couple of starters to share as again it was difficult to choose from (Nachos are amazing) the wife had a burger and it was a proper locally made beef burgey which tasted amazing. there was live music on the night we were there which was great, not too loud that you couldnt talk, the evening went buy far too quickly, the bar was buzzing all evening and watching Lynn and her team work the bar, restaurant and kitchen was amazing it is a very well oiled machine, the two guys behind the bar never stopped but always had time to chat and made us so welcome. we the retired to our room for a good nights sleep, the only issues (minor) was the kettle was to big to fill up under the sink tap, there were no glasses in the bathroom (but i could have got these from the bar) and we both found the pillows very hard (our opinion) like i said earlier Ok for one or two nights Breakfast in the morning was cereals, juice, and a full english but i think Lynn is flexible on this if you just wanted egg on toast or simalar, the breakfast was Ok. there was no rush for us to check out so we hung around for a while in the beer garden having a coffee, before we checked out having paid the bill in the morning the price we paid was excelent Now we have visited once, we will return, we are quite close in the scheme of things (17 Miles) and would & will have no hesitation of recomended the bell as a great place to visit at any time. Lynn & Maerk and the whole team are absolutely fantastic and i thank you for our amazing time. Recomend booking tables in advance Recomend arrive early to enjoy the location and the VAST array of drinks Recomend try as many dishes as you canMore

Yes - it would be cosy in the conservatory with a dog but they'd be accommodated anywhere.

It has easy access from the pavement as it's level and the pub floor is level inside but I don't know about the toilets I'm afraid
