We ended up going for an early dinner on Saturday night just as they opened, we thought we would be the only ones in there - but there were about 3 other tables, just past 5pm. We have been before, its tricky in New Haven with so many great restaurants and pizza, but this is a favorite. Great selection of... More

stuck in yale for a day and wondering where to go for that amazing new haven pizza? let me make it easy for you: kitchen zinc is the spot. the loaded baked potato pizza here is better than the mashed potato pizza at BAR (at least in this humble author's opinion), and the tomato pizza is a spectacular homage to... We were lucky to get a table. The place was super busy and we didn't have a reservation. Food was excellent, wine list was good, and our server was simply outstanding. He knew the menu inside out, backwards and forwards and was just great at recommending our meals and a fine bottle of wine. The atmosphere in the place was... More

20 years ago, I lived in New Haven and ate LOTS of New Haven pizza. And I loved it. Fast forward two decades, and my daughter, who is gluten-free, attends Yale. When I visit, all I want is pizza (and to see her!). This was problematic, until we discovered Kitchen Zinc. They make great pies with fresh ingredients, and there... More

I'm stuck at 4 stars, not because of the quality or ambience (both great, but maybe turn down the tunes just a little) but because there are so many great boutique pizza places now that it's tough to compare. The big ones: Bar in New Haven, Da Legna, Buffalina in Guilford, Otto in Chester, and this. My favorite? I don't... More

This upscale pizza and craft beer nook off an alley behind Zinc Cafe is good for a 'trendier' pizza but nothing special in a town famous for its coal fired pie. All the pizza is 12" so plan on one per person if you're hungry. The house salad with chickpeas and walnuts was tasty but the arugula and mixed greens... More

Great pizza, with interesting topping options, at a reasonable price, served by a friendly staff. They could not have nailed the basics any better.

A great spot hidden up the alley behind the more upscale Zinc in the front. Excellent tapas and surprisingly good pizza, even by exacting New Haven standards. There is also a lovely outdoor terrace when the weather is good.

Charming place with eager service and contemporary menu. All three of us had salads-two chicken with warm goat cheese and one Cobb salad. Goat cheese wasn't exactly warm and salad was a tad over dressed but dressing was spicy and different so was okay. Cobb salad with artichoke hearts bonus reported to be delicious. Soup of the day was spicy... More
