They make their grinders with their freshly made grinder rolls and they are awesome. Nothing like Voc's bread. My favorite is the tuna grinder.

I have been going to this place for decades and the food has always been good. Tonight I arrive to pick up my food and the owner was obviously angry with me. He told me I was late. I apologized, but he went on to tell me they were doing this for ten years. Well he should up date his... More

Vacatura's is famous for grinders, especially for their fresh baked bread - soft or little bricks. I like the ham in soft bread. They are also famous for fruit squares - lemon, raspberry, apple, and fig. My favorite is fig. Since I am from Georgia, I was a bit stunned by the abrupt way customers are treated. I am told... I recently read an article on the 10 best pizza places in Connecticut and Vocatura Barkery was on the list. Now I know Pizza is like religion and we all have a preference so I had my heart set for a nice thin crust, well favored sauce and overall simplicity. We did a grab and go, as there is no... More

Okay -- I'm from Minnesota where a good grinder is impossible to find so I tend to love the sandwiches on the east coast. Vocaturas grinders are among the best I've tried. The bread is chewy on the inside and crusty on the outside. They add meats, cheese, veggies, salt, pepper & oil for a taste bud tickling creation. You... More

I grew up in Norwich. Vocatura is a landmark. I go at least once (usually more than once) every time I go home, and I always bring a grinder back to California. They bake their bread on the premises and the ingredients are always fresh.

This bakery/restaurant makes a sandwich called a "GRINDER". This sandwich is only made in S.E. Connecticut and parts of Rhode Island. To the people who live in this area it is a food staple. Being from Norwich, it is the very first thing I sink my teeth into when I go back to visit family. "Vocatura's make the best grinder... More

I went here once and will never return. I asked them to please wear gloves making my grinder. The owner came over and said they wash their hands and that was sufficient. He could have made me his customer happy and just had his staff wear gloves. I walked out and never looked back. He lost me as a customer.

My family is from Norwich area and every time I come to visit this is the highlight of my dinning experience. I make a point to come here for an Italian grinder at least once a visit sometimes twice! I love the place and have everything good to say about it but make sure you know what you want because... More
