Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First time visiting… wasn’t disappointed at all. Ordered scampi with fries and salad - was very good. Good pub menu with a good variety of options. Also the menu clearly states allergy information. Great service. Very friendly and welcoming. Great rural village pub next to...the village green.More

The very rural setting, the traditional English pub decor, an ambiance created by a full house and a team that I can only describe as excellent from arrival to departure, made this a visit and a lunch to remember. The menu is classic pub food...and was very good value and delicious. I just wish I lived in the village and could go every day!!!!More

Sorry didn't rate it as we couldn't get in. There was a month's bookings before us. But the food looked amazing. We will book well ahead the next time we go down there.

My partner and I wanted to take his elderly father out for lunch and we settled upon the Royal Oak due to its no-nonsense, "good honest pub food" menu. Between us we tried the lasagne, the fish pie and the treacle sponge, all of which...were delicious. We were made to feel very welcome at the pub and we would happily return and sample further home-cooked dishes from the menu in future.More

Had an excellent lunch yesterday with 19 mates after a walk. The staff were friendly and incredibly well organised and the food was excellent, generous portions and reasonably priced. Four real ales in good condition were also available. Cannot recommend the Royal Oak too highly...- thank you for making us all feel so welcome.More

Very pleased we booked as it was busy for a Wednesday lunchtime, service was good with friendly staff, good choice on the menu and special board. Both decided to have syrup pudding and custard for desert, really good as were the mains. As it was...busy we decided to book for a meal in February, so from that you can see that we were both happy to return. Will recommend to others how good it is.More

This was my 3rd visit to this fantastic pub on the strong recommendation of my parents who visit it regularly. As soon as you walk in, you see the two roaring log fires, full tables (Tuesday lunch) and lots of happy people. Getting a table...here even on a Tuesday lunch isn’t too easy. With many other village pubs locally either closed early in the week or struggling to get the punters, the Royal Oak could probably fill their tables 3 x times over! It’s easy to see why this place appeals, the welcome from the owner Richard is welcoming, the food is just classic pub food but cooked very well and is great value in these times where prices are constantly on the rise. The service is superb which again is refreshing in todays world of hospitality. We will be back as will everyone else we saw today, so book early to avoid disappointment. Congratulations to all the team there.More
