We ate at the bar - with just a perfect blend of excitement, music, smells and sound. We did a number of samples which complemented each other well (probably by accident as there was no real pattern to what we were ordering). The Persimmon & Fennel was complex and tasty, the green chorizo was decadent, the white Bolognese maltagliati was... More

Had dinner with party of 8 and they did not disappoint. Meal was delish, and apparently we need to return for the brussels sprouts. On the small downside, restaurant if pretty noisy....had to repeat myself a few times in conversations. Otherwise love it!

That was unbelievable! The visit to this restaurant was a great experience. The food was very delicious and the items on the items are out of this world! The service was super friendly and we followed the advice to get the selection of oysters from different regions of New England - that was fantastic! The fish stew was unbelievable! The... More

My husband and I had the best dinner. Our server, who was very knowledgeable suggested a mussel starter. Mussels poached and served over rustic bread with an onion reduction was amazing, the freshness of the fish stew was like it was caught and hour ago wonderful flavors

Having been here several times before and having loved some stuff I was all hyped up for a great meal. Everything was good. But not great. Nothing Blew me away like the whole octopus did a couple Years ago. That was amazing. Will try again but will lower my expectations a tad.

I'm one of those that thinks that a restaurant should be distinguished for consistently hitting it out of the park, as opposed to getting full credit for one exceptional experience. I'm sure Whelk will pass the consistent excellence test. It seems completely ingrained in the way they go about business. Chris (bartender/server) was amazing. Excellent in every aspect of the... My wife and I ate at The Whelk a few weeks ago for the first time, it was incredible.  Full disclosure, we only tried the appetizers. Buy we tried a lot of them.  We started with the oysters – they had some good ones from CT, MA, ME with cool names like: Aunt Dotty’s, Beach Point, Copps Island, Norumbega.  For... More

Went for anniversary lunch. Very yummy shared oysters and I had the seafood soup and hubby had the fried chicken sandwich. Easy to get seats on the weekend for lunch. A number of family's there and great ambiance by the water.

Finding parking at The Whelk was a bit dicey, but we lucked out. A wall of windows makes the dining room very light & airy. Two very large, elevated cafeteria-style tables with bar chairs occupy most of the room. A long line of regular tables flanks the windows. (Outside dining is limited.) However, the tables are separated by less than... More

Super Nice fresh seafood and an amazing selection of wines. You can surely trust the waiters for their wine suggestions
