Fish on the Green never fails. The food never disappoints, always tasty and well presented. We generally visit lunch time as the lunch menu is very good value. The atmosphere is always great although on occasions can be a bit noisy. The staff are always welcoming and we never feel that we are being pressurised to leave at the end of the meal. There were 8 of us there to celebrate my birthday and we had a first class experience. The finishing touch was a surprise ice cream dish with candle. Highly recommend.

I’ve been to this Restaraunt many times & always looked forward to every visit because the atmosphere, the service & of course the food has always been first class. When I went Vegan I was delighted to find out that they offer a full Vegan set meal. Again I was not disappointed at all & in fact the other people in the party said that they would have the Vegan pudding next time as it was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful evening & going the extra mile with the alternative food.

Another favourite of ours. Always a good meal. Always good service. Table water costs as much as beer though ! There is no dragnet lager and bottles are not cheap. Lobster is good value as you get a whole one where as for the same money elsewhere you only get half. Fillet steak always good

Our second visit after a couple of years. Like other reviews, we found it pricey and the food isn't that tasty. Pick the right meals and you could be surprised I guess. Not sure we want to revisit though. It was notably noisy given a Thursday lunchtime

We took our son and his Fiancé yesterday as a birthday treat for her. It was very difficult to park at 12.30pm as the large car park is shared by the pub next door. It was very busy and we received a warm welcome and shown to our table and our coats were taken too. Three of us shared a bottle of NZ Sauv Blanc [29.00] and I chose a double G & T [10.40] whilst we chose from the set menu options. We shared two portions of Olives & some delicious granary bread [7.90]. Two of us enjoyed a Salmon fishcake starter, 1 x Leek & Potato soup, 1 x Ham Hock Terrine [all £3 each]. Followed by 2 x Hake Fillet and 2 x Bream Fillet [all £24.95 each]. I felt the portion sizes were on the small side with no accompanying vegetables. I personally felt my Hake was pretty bland in taste, so was glad to improve it with some salt and black pepper. We finished with 1 x Panna Cotta and 2 of us shared the Choc Brownies [all £3 each]. One of us had a coffee, which came with some tasty truffles [£3.10]. When booking, I had pre-requested a candle to come with one of the desserts but this didn't happen, although it did appear on a scoop of ice cream about 5mins later, so guess the kitchen had overlooked this original request! Total bill was £168.20 + tip]. The set menu was quite good value, although the a la carte menu was very expensive.

With most Covid restrictions lifted we were surprised to find that a table of 8 was actually 2 tables of 4 separated by a Perspex screen, under the guidelines at the time this was totally unnecessary. Food was it’s usual good standard except for the lobster Thermidor. Several of us selected this and paid for a whole lobster but the one’s that arrived were meagre and had no claws, if you pay the exorbitant price of a whole lobster you at least expect a whole lobster. The worst part of our visit was on leaving, after spending several hundred pounds on lunch we were trapped in the car park by the associated pub next door taking deliveries. We asked if we could get out but we’re answered incredibly rudely by staff and told we had to wait; 25 minutes later the lorry was finished and we got to leave. We go to this restaurant several times a year but are now looking for an alternative.

Our second visit here and it was delicious! The scallop starter was cooked beautifully! Our mains, the lemon sole and hallibut were gorgeous...I had the hallibut and brown shrimps. So light and tasty. The coffee and homemade chocolates are a nice dessert choice when you don't have much room left. The waitresses put a candle in my partner's panacotta and the chef's wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate round the side of the plate. Such a nice touch. All the front of house staff are very friendly and attentive. Cosy, relaxed atmosphere and amazing food! Would defo return again and reccomend!

In the real world, few restaurants deserve 5 stars, because reviewers have a tendency to be generous. Just occasionally, one has an experience that is truly exceptional, and Fish on the Green is that experience. Two visits resulted in first class service, with food of outstanding quality and presentation, at a fair price. This restaurant provides a Michelin star quality experience without the pretentious attitude and inflated pricing. Don't be put off by the external appearance (it looks like a converted outbuilding). Parking is behind and shared with the pub next door.

Another fantastic meal at Fish tonight! We brought my brother and sister in law for a meal here, after raving about it for the last few years, but because of covid restrictions, had not been able to visit until now. The food as usual, was just sublime, and everything was just as perfect as previous visits, with all the lovely little touches to the service that Fish is renowned for, e.g, putting the air conditioning on when they noticed we were getting a little warm - we didn’t need to ask, it was just noticed, and done. It really is the most fabulous restaurant - outstanding food and brilliant service - what more could you ask for? Oh, and they still serve the ‘to die for’ chocolate truffles with the coffee! Still the best restaurant in Kent!

My wife and I visited the Fish on the Green for her birthday. We love this small intimate restaurant. We were looked after extremely well by the front of house staff who were always alert to our needs. The food was excellent and served with appropriate gaps between courses. We had three courses the oysters Rockefeller were delicious as were my wifes tiger prawn starter. I had the whole lemon sole for main which was perfectly cooked and delicious with a cockle sauce. My wife ate the roasted Monk fish which looked amazing. We shared a bottle of Liberty Bacchus the perfect accompaniment. If you are considering a visit to this restaurant I urge you not too hesitate. Thank you Fish on the Green for a great evening.

*Booking*: friendly and I happened to quickly mention it was a Sunday lunch for my dad's 83rd birthday. *Parking*: just outside (e.g. 6 spaces), in the 'Oak' pub car park next door (part of same group) or on the street. *Venue*: bright, clean and cosy (seats approx 42). They were super sweet and gave us a larger table. * Food*: simple clear menus with a lovely 'lunch time' offer (2 courses @£26.95 and 3 @£29.95 at time of writing). *Service/staff*: very welcoming; attentive and genuinely caring - the batter on the cod was just a bit too crispy for my dad and we mentioned this, they instantly cooked a fresh meal and took the main course off the bill without a moment's hesitation. Also made his dessert a 'birthday' styled plate, putting his age on the rim in chocolate sauce as well as a candle. And genuinely wished my dad a "Happy birthday", several times. Overall: would totally go here again. Recommend booking..

Ordered Whole lobster thermidor meal advertised on the Al a cart menu A very small lobster arrived, no claws attached or meat from them and small amount of tail meat mixed in the sauce. Not the "whole" lobster I was expecting so wording on menu misleading and not worth the £45 cost which is a shame because what I did have tasted very good. I suspect that some of my "whole" lobster may have been put into the menus mixed shellfish starter consisting of fresh lobster meat, langoustin, crab and prawns. My wife had had 2 courses off the set lunch menu and was happy with her fishcake starter and steamed plaice fillet main. I did share my disappointment with the waitress who made excuses for my small amount of lobster meat and 10% discount was given from my total bill.

Was so looking forward to our first dine in meal since the latest lockdown and we were absolutely not dissapointed! The food was stunning as always, they had certainly not lost their touch. The service was as always unobstrusive, but very friendly and super efficient. Thy remember who ordered what, including teh wine, so did not need to ask us when serving. Bit what really impressed us all was the fact that one of our party had to be very careful what she was able to eat, including dairy, gluten free and various other considerations. Rather than advising her what she could have they told her to chose anythng off t emenu and they would adapt it. For teh dessert they even completely made something up which looked amazing and she loved. Well done to the team and we cannot wait till next time.

This has to be one of the best fish restaurants we have ever eaten in and we have been in many. The atmosphere was relaxed and calm and very clean and smart. The staff were just fantastic. Very polite and nothing too much trouble. As for the food, when they say fresh fish they mean fresh fish and perfectly cooked. Portions were of a good size and perfectly presented. We really cannot find fault in this fabulous restaurant and will definitely be back. If you are in the surrounding area it is well worth the short drive or taxi fare. They have outside tables for warmer evenings that look out onto the green. Always busy so ensure you book. They do offer meat courses but go for the excellent choice of fish.
