Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

BUCKLEYS TAVERN - tasty food, loud bar, great service We chose to do one overnight at the Inn at Mendenhall but rather than the fine dining of the hotel, we chose the more casual atmosphere of Buckleys Tavern about 4 miles away on Rt 52....Charlotte was our server and did a personable and efficient job. I ordered the twin pork chop dinner and the sauce was a tasty complement. My partner got the Angus burger which she raved about. We had made a reservation for the formal dining room as no reservations are taken for the bar; however, upon arrival, we were able to ask and receive a bar booth table. Be forewarned that at 5 pm, the bar atmosphere can be quite loud and offensive for dining.More

A cornerstone in the Centerville/Greenville community. The best ambiance, food, and bar for 50 miles! Can be hard to get a table without reservation on thurs-sun but if you can it is worth the wait. Koodos!

The problem is their hostess desk and check in system. They send you a text when your table is ready. We walked in, spoke to the hostess and sat down on the bench next to their desk. I received two texts simultaneously that our table...was ready. We were then subjected to a rude and uncalled for attitude by said waitress that, "I sent that 10 minutes ago". Ok, well, look at my phone I just got these now. "Well I sent it 10 minutes ago so the table is gone." We were sitting next to her with no more than 4 other people and it was too hard to get up from her seat and ask if we got the text. We then had to sit out on the enclosed, but cold, patio instead of the nice warm booth if we wanted to eat. Tired and hungry, we did just that though I would have left if it were just me. The assistant hostess who sat us was just as rude. The food was fine, our servers were great and made it worth staying. I'll be looking for a different place next time I'm in the areaMore

Be very careful. Short staffed and not very attentive. We were charged for our bill as well as another. After talking with the manager over several days he assured us a credit would be issued. It wasn’t. When confronted he told me to deal with...my credit card company. We will be back but won’t be tipping until our tips missed equals our over charge. Is it petty yes it is but it should’ve been handled in a professional mannerMore

We spent the morning at Winterthur and our friends had made a reservation to have lunch at Buckleys Tavern at 2:00 PM. We arrived a little early for our reservation, and they very kindly found a table for us. This is a large restaurant that...can accommodate bus groups which was happening when we were there. There are multiple dining areas. The restaurant has been around since 1817 and survived many uses. It became Buckleys Tavern in 1951 and is still going strong today. We were seated in the bar, which had a charming atmosphere. We were so impressed that even though it was completely full of dining patrons, we could easily converse with each other. This was a pleasant and welcome change from most restaurants where the noise is deafening. We were warmly greeted by our server, Andrea, who took excellent care of us. We started off with one of their Signature Appetizers – the Soft Pretzel Sticks, which were three German style pretzel sticks with honey mustard. They were warm and the mustard was delectable. Being in mushroom country, I started with a bowl of the Buckley's Exotic Cream of Mushroom Soup with crispy leeks. It was exotic and loaded with a variety of mushrooms with a delicate flavor. Then, I moved on the Roasted Mushroom Flatbread, which was topped with caramelized onions, fontina cheese, & balsamic drizzle. I was in heaven. My husband had the Chef Tom's New England Clam Chowder, which was thick and had bacon, potatoes and clams. He really liked his soup. He also enjoyed the large portion of Fish & Chips, which was fried Pollock and French fries with a malt vinegar aioli. He also asked for tartar sauce. Our friends ordered the Chef HB's Meatloaf dinner, which was made with beef, pork, and veal with mashed potatoes, vegetable medley, and beef gravy as well as a Turkey Club (smoked bacon, lettuce, and mayonnaise on white toast). They ordered a Coconut Cream Cake (coconut genoise and coconut cream layers iced with vanilla Chantilly cream.) It looked delicious. We were all thrilled with our meals, the service, and the setting. We look forward to coming again the next time we drive up from Baltimore.More

We had a great take out meal from here of burgers and fries. I'm always disappointed in the amount of ketchup, so my husband asked for extra when he picked it up and they gave him the whole bottle! Whoever packed the bag was so...sweet and helpful. We will definitely be back!!!More

I haven’t been to Buckley’s in a long time, so was excited to be back and expecting to really enjoy it. I ordered the cream of mushroom soup and honestly, it was so weird. The soup had the consistency of cream of wheat and a...strong brown broth and color. The flavor was okay, but I just couldn’t get past the texture. Cream of mushroom soup in my mind has a cream base, flavored slightly with an herb like thyme, and a creamy texture. This one was just gosh awful.More

We had such a nice evening at Buckley’s. Started in the var but the noise level was too high fir us. Staff was super helpful to get us to a quieter area. Our waitperson, Kim, was do fun, pleasant and attentive. We had a lobster...roll with coleslaw and chili with cornbread. So good finished with in-house made coconut cream cake. Oh man. I am a trip coordinator for O'Malley Senior Center in Odenton, MD. We planned this trip thru Gunther Tours. We were going to see a show in Media, PA and Buckley's Tavern was our stop for lunch. The food was delicious, The Staff friendly! Not...one complaint from 50 people. They wanted me to schedule a bus trip back just for lunch.More

We went with friends that frequent Buckleys and you would not know that by the way we were treated. Our friends order was never placed but the other 5 were. They never apologized for the error and then tried to come up with excuses. They...also had a bit of a snarky attitude about it. Look, when you make a mistake, own up to it and it will make the evening go much smoother. I don't think it was the waiter' s fault but when we asked for a manager, no one showed. The whole thing could have been handled much better by simply stating there was an error, we're sorry and we'll give you your entree free. Instead, snark ruled and we won't be back there and we'll be sure to warn others. BTW, the food was really good.More
