For the past few years The Hare and Hounds has been one of our favourite places to eat in this area, We have recommended it to several people who have, once they have been there, shared our high opinion of the food and service. Unfortunately, when we visited it a few months ago we noticed a distinct change in the... More

I am so sorry you feel the hare and Hounds wasn't up to its usual standards on your last visit, we have changed our menu and the way we present our food, much of that due to customer feed back , we have modernized our crockery too! Im sorry you don't like it, we felt we had to move with... More

Have been here many times and food us always of good quality. The staff, as always were very friendly and helpful. The food today was delicious but I have to say that the Chick Pea Dahl, although very nice, is massively over priced £13.50 taking into context the ingredients and portion size, when compared with the steak pie that my... We had a lovely evening here. We stayed in a luxury room and enjoyed the Victorian bath. The room was clean and had everything you needed. It was nice to sit out in the sun with a cider when we arrived. Staff were welcoming and the evening meal was great. The breakfast was good in the morning too.

Used regularly in the past during the caravan season March to October and previously happy customers. Went tonight to celebrate our wedding anniversary and very disappointed. My husband ordered their usually generously sized steak and ale pie. The portion size tonight was tiny, very well done and dry. Served with dauphinois potatoes, again disgustingly small portion. Daylight robbery for the... More

We returned to this pub restaurant having had a good experience last year and we weren't disappointed. The food was very good and the service first rate. The pub itself is a lovely and quirky place tucked down among the hills behind Gummers How near Windemere, very warm and comfortable. They have a good range of ales and an excellent... More

Decided on Saturday morning to book the Hare & Hounds Restaurant in Bowland Bridge. Lovely setting with clean, spacious well appointed rooms. Superb food and friendly service. Only downside no comfortable seating area for residents so ended up in room earlier than would've liked.

Whilst enjoying a short stay in the lake district we felt that a roast dinner in a country pub was an essential activity. We chose this pub as it catered for customers who are avoiding gluten (not I). Pros: Warm welcoming atmosphere. Friendly bar and waiting staff. Cons: The roast itself was quite disappointing. A lot of my party really... More

We visited due to fabulous recommendations and were not disappointed. We have now visited twice on this holiday, even staying after one meal to do the quiz! This is an exceptional restaurant, with well thought out, beautifully cooked dishes, which are not only stylish and could be suited to a fine dining experience, but also excellent versions of pub classics.... This pub is a little off the beaten track but is well worth a visit. It was recommended to us by locals who go there regularly. We first had a beer on a Saturday lunchtime. It was clean and tidy with the feel of a quintessential country pub. The staff were welcoming and helpful to everyone, especially a small family... More
