Positives:
The food quality was good.
The staff were friendly, gave us a warm welcome, and spent a lot of time chatting with my friend about the restaurant and food.
The restaurant itself was clean, and linen tablecloths and napkins were present indicating fine-dining.
Small...customer parking area, and on-street parking nearby
Negatives:
I checked the Bangla Lounge website for pricing before reserving a table. The prices on their website (and linked to on TripAdvisor) were reasonable - VERY different from the actual prices. For example, Chicken or Lamb Harialy was £7.50 online, but £12 in the restaurant... and the website price was NOT the takeaway menu. In the UK, it is illegal for customers not to see a restaurant menu BEFORE they are seated.
I dined with a friend, and here was my order (website and actual prices):
Onion bhaji: £2.95 -> £4.50
Chicken tikka Korai £7.25 -> £10.50
Peshwari nan: £2.75 -> £3.75
Total bill according to their website: £12.95
Actual bill: £18.75!
For this reason only, I have given the Bangla Lounge 3 stars.
My friend was NOT concerned with the price hike, and wanted to give Bangla 5 stars.
We ordered water, which arrived in a large bottle. This was not topped-up when empty.
Other:
We received a bill which included "Basmati rice"... a dish we neither ordered nor received. However, we had chapattis, and these were not on the bill.
They don't have a licence to sell alcohol, so take your own.
My friend was happy and will return.
I will not return purely because I can't justify the high price.More
