I had some time on my hand waiting for a friend. I was drawn by the appearance of seeing this caboose. It looked fun on the outside and it showed on the inside. They were fixing some gorgeous scones, but I had eaten and only went for the coffee, which I drank at an outside table.

Went to the Orange Crate Cafe when it first opened. The food portions were small. Not a good value. This all I can say - sorry.

After walking on the Pinellas Trail we stopped here for coffee. It's an old train car located where Dunedin Station once was. Coming from near Edinburgh in Scotland, we were surprised to find a Scot as one of the owners. The coffee was the best we'd had since arriving and we couldn't resist a piece of blueberry almond tart which... More

Great coffee and the homemade blueberry pie was to die for!!! Small, with outside seating. We watched the world go by.

Stopped in for an espresso which was one of the best we've had! No bitterness or burnt taste. Did not need to add sugar. The plum pie was excellent ! The iced chai was great too! Owners are very friendly and inviting! So glad we stopped in!

We have always used this place it has been renamed the Express Cafe. Really nice couple now run it. The guy is from Scotland his wife American. The best coffee in Dunedin. Great selection of nibbles at great prices. Would highly recommend.

This enterprise works out of al old train car located on the Pinellas trail. I had great hopes for their organic food but was disappointed. The place is actually too small to prepare the food in situ, so it feels a tad packaged. And the taste left something to be desired for me.

When we were in Dunedin previously this was called The Box Car. Coffee and herbal tea were just as good with some lovely muffins. A welcome refreshment break after walking on the Pinellas trail, or a morning strolling around Dunedin and can sit in the sun or the shade.

My husband was thrilled to find somewhere to have a superior cup of coffee - he returned for another one during our 3 day stay in Dunedin. Hot chocolate was decent. Lots of alternatives: soya milk, almond milk, low-fat milk, whole milk. Located in a cute train car along Pinellas Trail. Note that there are clean public washrooms in the... More
