We visited this small Spanish tapas restaurant in the Grove with high hopes. From the beginning of our visit, our waiter seemed disinterested and was not very nice to us. We ordered the gambas al ajillo (shrimp in garlic sauce), tortilla, and croquetas and two glasses of the house wine. The garlic shrimp were excellent, but other than that, the... More

Coconut Grove is a lively area and the night we visited La Gamba was no exception. At first we were a little concerned that La Gamba was quite empty compared with neighbouring restaurants but soon realised that the clientele conformed to the Spanish tradition of eating much later. We had an excellent Galician white wine recommended by our friendly Argentine... More

Menu is a little off the beaten path but food was awesome. We were the only people in the restaurant for awhile so we were concerned. Everything was as we expected and very yummy. They need to cool the place a little more but other wise great. All of us would come back.

This is a small unassuming restaurant. It was also surprisingly empty. surprising because the food was excellent. Our host ordered a range of modern style tapas i.e. larger portions than traditionally the case. All dishes were excellent but the fish stood out

Every bite was full of flavor and perfectly seasoned and cooked. I never eat artichokes but these were exquisite. Brandy flambe chorizo and croquettas were on point! Seafood paella flavorful, fresh and worth every penny. Oxtail wet rice was hardy; perfectly seasoned and executed. I look forward to bringing my friends and family soon. Small, quiet and oceanic atmosphere, entire... More

I came here on the recommendation of my daughter, who enjoyed it. Some of the reviews complained about the service. For us, it was fine. Warm bread was served, as well as spicy olives. We came with another couple and ordered a spicy shrimp appetizer, which was very good and the bread came in handy for sopping up the garlic... More

Visited with friends. Terrace was full so we were seated inside at beginning. Just before starters staff asked weather we wanted to be seated outside. We were happy to move. Not that there was anything wrong inside but out on the terrace it was much nicer. We started with selection of different tapas. Bacalao was suberb as well as artichoke... More

This small place has very good Spanish food in a comfortable setting. Outdoor dining also available, a real plus on Friday night and Sunday mid-day when an Cuban band (Son Cubans) plays great music. Only disappointment is the Paella.

Description
Located in the heart of Coconut Grove, Miami, La Gamba Restaurant is a purveyor of fine Iberian cuisine and Mediterranean fare. Our concept is not to distort the Iberian cuisine but rather to stay true to its roots, taking care to adhere to classic recipes. That's not to say we don't venture into the uncharted. Our weekly specials focus on superb interpretations of classic dishes. You'll find our Iberian style to have undertones of Mediterranean, Basque, Andalusian and Catalan flavors which come together beautifully in our meat dishes like our Braised Oxtail with potato Parmentier, white truffle oil and charred asparagus, or our Seven Seas Paella, overflowing with seven types of seafood. We also serve classic Iberian tapas like sautéed artichokes with Iberian ham, Cod croquettes and fried Calamaretti. The majority of our award wining wines come from boutique wineries throughout Spain and our knowledgeable staff will be more than happy to help find the perfect wine to pair with your dinner. Our fish and seafood come to us fresh from the mediterranean twice a week. We use premium Calasparra rice for our Paellas, which are perfumed and colored with the highest grade of natural saffron. We never use artificial ingredients. We are fresh obsessed. In addition to our seafood, all our cured meats and cheeses are imported directly from Spain and procured from small scale farmers with a long linage of expertise, tradition and love for good food. La Gamba has become a reference point for Iberian cuisine in the city of Miami and meeting place for foodies and experienced gourmets alike.
