Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a lovely welcome from friendly staff. The restaurant was cosy and very pretty. Lovely solid wood tables that had seams of sparkly gold resin in. Very nice menu. Nothing 'fancy' just proper, well cooked, tasty plentiful food-delicious! Also an array of yummy cakes-if...you have room after the main course or you could take one home. The attached farm shop and butchers sold excellent produce too. We'll definitely be returning.More

We made a booking & asked to make sure we arrived before 10.30. We arrived 10.20am & placed our order with the waitress at 10.30. We ordered Eggs Florentine & Eggs Benedict with a coffee & hot chocolate with our meals. Drinks came which we...drank whilst waiting. We noticed people who came in after us on the other side of the room were served before us. 11am we asked the waitress if we had been forgotten. Waitress said "maybe 5 or 10mins" Just after 11.06 our meals came. Eggs Florentine was only just warm & yolks slightly hard. We did not want to say anything at this late stage. The place & surroundings are lovely, just disappointed with the service on Christmas Eve MorningMore

Hidden gem! Went with family for Sunday lunch. Restaurant was lovely with a log fire which made it feel warm and welcoming. We had Sunday lunch menu & whilst the menu was minimal, there was a good selection to choose from. I had the Roast...dinner - turkey and wasn’t disappointed! Everything was cooked to perfection, the sage and onion stuffing was amazing and all veg was lovely! Only down side is asking for extra gravy which is an additional 50p for a small jug which I understand may be down to costing, thought this was a non necessity charge. Will definitely recommend & return in the future!More

We called in for our first visit for coffee and some sort of breakfast. I cannot stand for any length of time so told the man making coffees who came over to us that I needed to sit. All he said was “Have you booked?”...Not the best first impression. The waitress was pleasant and seemed to grasp the specific dietary requirements of Coeliac disease. Unfortunately, the only ‘cake’ available was the ubiquitous Brownie. So my husband and I plumped for bacon sandwich on good GF bread, and a bacon roll. He was happy with his warm bacon, but my good amount of bacon was stone cold. I asked for well done bacon, but it was ‘normal’. The order came very quickly and perhaps wasn’t perhaps freshly cooked? The ‘manager’ came out to speak with us, very obliging and friendly. We’ll go again just to see if the ‘warmish’ food was a ‘one-off’.More

We visited as a family of 6 adults on 23rd July for Sunday Lunch. This was pre-booked by necessity as Oakfield is always busy. We all had Sunday roasts followed by sweets and coffees. My wife (being Coeliac) had Gluten Free versions. Tasty food, nice...staff, great surroundings on a working farm. What you get at Oakfield is quality, well cooked food. If you want massive portions of bland food, then this isn’t the place for you. But if you want a very nice meal using the best ingredients, then you’ll love it.More

They seem to be going from strength to strength and are expanding their outside seating area. Always plenty of cakes to choose from and a decent cup of coffee with quick service.

My visit to the farm shop was disappointing. The deli was very sparse nothing like the promo video on their website. No quiches and large gaps. The pantry items were plentiful.

1st time visit yesterday Tuesday 13th June 2023. The cafe side was very nice. Great layout and some great features. liked the big windows and could see someone riding a horse around. There was also plenty of seating outside. A very good menu and decently...priced. The drinks and food we had were very nice with just having to ask for more marmalade for my toast as the amount given hardly covered half a slice. Good efficient friendly staff. Also a nice little farm deli shop attached. Could do with improving parking, not sure what it would be like on a busy weekendMore

Just the best farm shop and restaurant ever. Once a week I either come for breakfast, lunch, coffee, cake or to buy the most amazing food at the farm shop. The Sunday lunch is simply incredible. The staff are excellent. The quiches are delicious, my...one year old son loves them. Great place. Great location. Great coffee. Great food. Great service and Dog friendly. What more could you ask for.More

Visited for a Sunday lunch with family after previously going for breakfast. The positives: the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food came out quickly. The negatives: the portions were very small. One single broccoli floret, one single piece of cauliflower cheese (my...mum didn't get any), small tablespoon size of mash and garden peas and not a great deal of meat. The quality of the meal was reasonable but not good value for money and therefore unfortunately will not be returning. It is a shame as the surroundings are nice and the staff were very friendly.More

I was really disappointed with this visit. I've been before and it's been great, what's changed? I was taking my freind out she chose a breakfast, I asked for pancakes. I was told they had ran out of batter?! It's great they make their own...but really? Eggs, flour and milk? So I chose out of tge limited cake selection and it was limited , apparantly because it wasn't the weekend. I've never gone on a weekend and they have always had cakes. Is it just youngsters who don't know how to answer you? I asked for the Victoria sponge. Gosh, it was hard, I'd say stale. I mentioned it to the young lady and she offered me cream! Very disappointed in the response as she could see the fork needed forcing into the sponge. As I do with everywhere I will go for a 2nd time but if it isn't right, that for me will be it I'm afraid.More

I booked online this place as they offered table service for Sunday roast. The views were nice in the restaurant,it also had a farm shop. Staff were very polite, and food came out quick. Roast dinner was served with homemade style Yorky. They have Bluebells...ice cream :) Now the negatives- most of food was warm but not hot, the portion size wasn't very big, 3 cubes of carrot. Small spoon peas, 1 small brocoli stem. My preference would to just have plain carrots rather than coated in something. The choice of cauliflower on its own or with cheese. Also came with small mash and potato with skin on. The staff did ask if everything was OK. I said yes, as it was busy and didn't want to complain and spoil the meal out. My negatives are just something to consider. I would visit again but maybe just to try their breakfast or pop by for ice cream and a drink.More

Arrived to be told no pancakes (it had only been open an hour or so!) we chose a cooked breakfast and smoked salmon/cream cheese bagel. 25 mins later the waiter came out to say - no salmon. As I was aware my husbands breakfast would...be cooked at this point i was rushed into picking the toasted sun-dried Tomato bagel. This arrived as warm bread, the smallest amount of cream cream and the tomatoes - I should have sent it back but I was so hungry at this point (felt this was very overpriced as would cost pence to make) Husbands breakfast arrived with no bacon on his plate so had to ask again for that. Once eaten we asked for the bill, was just given a card reader and I had to ask for the receipt - they had charged us for the smoked salmon bagel AND the tomato one - that refund is pending due to the iPads going down. The main waitress/manager was very apologetic and could see our disappointment with the experience. We then purchased some items from the farm shop - they had some plants outside for sale which stated on a blackboard that the primulas were £1.20 - bargain I thought! Once home on our receipt showed we had paid £3 per plant - this was queried and apparently the board wasn’t for those particular plants but it wasn’t clear. We won’t be returning.More
