Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went here with my family for Sunday lunch. Ryan provided very good service and the lady in charge was very friendly and chatted to out children. Food was good, everyone enjoyed theirs. Best chocolate brownie and icecream I've ever tasted.

Evening out with friends at the Papermakers, Plaxtol. What a lovely village pub. The Service was faultless, staff were friendly and the food was just amazing. I had the Miso Cod, which was a very enjoyable dish, well cooked and looked amazing on the plate....There was a lovely open fire and great atmosphere. Will definitely go back...More

Once again this friendly local pub in the centre of Plaxtol Village provided us with a first-class mid-week supper. Their draught beer (£5.80/pint) from Longman's was beautifully kept and every mouthful of hop flavoured ale was perfect. It was very cosy in the small dining...area adjacent to the bar as the log fire was blazing on this very wet Storm Babet night The beef and Suffolk blue cheese croquette with horseradish sauce (£9.00) was delicious. Hot crispy crust with a wonderful savoury middle - had to ask for more sauce which quickly arrived. The salmon rillette (£9.00) was also enjoyed as a starter. I had the Thai green curry (£17.50) with chicken (again) and was not disappointed. Lovely medium hot curry with tender chicken pieces and rice, perfectly cooked, with a slight bite. Other enjoyed the Chicken Ballotine (£19.00) which was stuffed with spinach, cheese and rolled in Parma ham. When it came to desserts, most of us were too well fed to tackle anything more than a "digestive" ice cream at £3.00 per dollop and really good. We liked the Picpoul de Minet (£32.00) and large glass of Tempranillo (£7.80) The food is in a class above mots other local restaurants and pubs so should command greater support!!More

I eat out often and particularly for a roast on Sunday. I visited here today. I was pleasantly surprised. The roast was the best I’ve had in a pub. Meat cooked well. Excellent staff and lovely pub. It’s a 45 minute drive for me but...this may well be my new Sunday lunch pub. Thank youMore

Plaxtol is a friendly village and this pub provides a great focus for thirsty locals as well as offering interesting food in comfortable surrounds. There has been an extensive devlopment of outdoor facilities but sadly the weather on a July evening was not conducive to...braving the sudden temperature drop. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere whilst we took drinks and studied the short menu - the draught bitter ale was well kept with great flavour. My starter for £9.50 was chicken liver parfait served with thick slices of brown bread (perhaps toasted would have been even better?) and slices of local strawberries. The parfait was light and very smooth, so good to taste. For the main course, I opted for the Thai green curry (£16.95) with chicken pieces and basmati rice which I thought was a superb dish and could have rly enjoyed their selections and the kitchen was very happy to provide a "doggy bag" for the unfinished (but delicious) Tuna steaks. Total bill with drinks in the bar, wine at the table, two courses plus coffee and gratuity was £50pp. Very good value for our superb mid-week supper.More

Decided to visit with my brother and our wives on "Wellington Wednesday" - an evening when they offer beef wellington at £35.00/each and either salmon or vegetable at £20,00/each. Opened with an excellent pint of timothy Taylor bitter which was worth the rather high price....However the wine selections both white and red were rather ordinary and again slightly over=priced we felt. The starters did not excite with the (miniscule) fishcake and sauce underwhelming though the leek and potato soup proved a nourishing winter option. Very pleased to move to a more positive tone as the Wellingtons were outstanding : really tender, medium rare fillet encased in a perfectly formed thin crust of pastry with a fine jus, smoothly mashed potatoes and greens. Likewise our ladies loved the salmon version. Coffees sufficed and we would certainly make another visit.More

We booked a meal to follow a walk from a neighbouring village. Table plus dog biscuits and water awaited us (and our dog!) . Food was, as always, delicious. Service warm, welcoming and attentive. Relaxed and friendly vibe with great food. Thank you.

Have been before and it again fid not disappoint. Probably the most enjoyable three courses I’ve had for a long time. The salmon starter and lemon ‘ice’ was a triumph, My homemade pie mains was beautiful and full of filling and my sticky toffee pudding...dessert was lovely. Great food, friendly service and a beautiful location. If you haven’t been before, please try the Papermakers!More

Simply the best chips I have ever eaten. Would go back just to eat a bowl of chips. I ordered Ham, Egg and Chips and the portion was enormous. Other mains seemed much smaller and some other customers were disappointed by that.I hated the chairs...they were really big for the tables and hard to move. Minor point maybe but I thought the restaurant's layout was generally a little strange, I felt a bit exposed the whole time. Not a comfortable room. But the chips ........More

The pub and restaurant were busy so there was a nice atmosphere although quite noisy. The staff were very pleasant. Unfortunately the food quality does not seem the same and I object to paying £12 for four slices of bread (this is the bread basket)....If you are charging per slice of bread per person then the customer should be asked how many would like bread.More
