Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We came for a nice evening meal but were very disappointed with the food. My mum's risotto seemed to have been microwaved, the mushrooms were slimy and did not seem very fresh at all. My double cheese burger was a joke, I have never paid...so much money for such low quality food. The basic presentation was terrible, the meat was so over cooked it was dry as anything, the bun was like the super cheap ones you get 10 for 1£ in Aldi, the "relish" consisted of one piece of rancid onion. Honestly can't put into words how poor quality the food was. I had to go to McDonalds on the way home, even their junk food was A LOT better quality than the Royal Oak. There is really no excuse for such poor quality as we were the pretty much the only customers. There is no way that food was prepared by a 'chef', well not one with any self respect anyway. Such as shame as it could be a great pub. I wouldn't mind if it was cheap and poor but expensive and poor is not acceptable.More

What a fabulous pub. We met as a family. The Sunday lunch was perfect, we all had something different and everything was so tasty and well cooked. Best of all, we were not hurried off our table and had time to relax and chat. The...little village is lovely to walk round too. PerfectMore

A tale of two halves: The reason I chose this pub/restaurant was they offered some fantastic vegetarian options. I specifically asked L Crow who said the full vegetarian menu will be available on Mothering Sunday. On the day, we were greeted by a very hostile,...grumpy, pushy blonde waitress who said the vegetarian menu was not running. No apology, no care - and that’s how it continued. Very disappointing. Avoid if you can!More

Came for the New Year's day brunch and it was so lovely, that we were thrilled to see Saturday morning brunch is a permanent fixture. Came today, and it was again DE-lish! Full English (with an extra award winning sausage- you can see why-) for...father, and an omelette for me. Sounds daft but the best omelette I've had (chosen combo of cheese, caramelised onion and spinach). Watched as another table had my second choice of eggs royal, and know for sure will be back to try this! Looked lush. Will have to work my way down that menu. Yum! Staff as always very friendly and helpful. Well done all!More

Came here with family for a sunday roast, the food was amazing!! I had the roast pork, and some cheesy broccoli which was delicious! And service was great too, especially considering how busy it was, food arrived in a timely manner, we were very well...looked after and did not feel rushed. Our waitress was constantly topping up our drinks, and our gravy! However the loos were very cold. I assume that’s down to a heating fault rather than anything else so haven’t let it change the 5 stars.More

Visited this lovely pub on a weekday evening for a family meal. It was quiet with only a few tables but the atmosphere was still good with beautiful table and Christmas decorations. Staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive Food arrived in a timely manner and...was delicious. I had a lasagne which was amazing and I would happily have it again. For dessert I had the apple and Berry crumble with custard with my only complaint being it was very hot! Overall great pub and would happily returnMore

Food was piping hot and really lovely. Couldn't fault any of it and the only food left on plates was because the portion was more than the person could manage. Service was excellent and the staff friendly, efficient and attentive. The only criticism, and why...I have not given 5 stars, is the pub was very cold and the toilets like an icebox!! It contributed to the reason why we left as soon as we had finished eating/drinking as we needed to get home and in the warm. Nearly forgot, the Christmas decorations in the pub were lovely and welcoming and the garden looked stunning with all the lights.More

Our large party of thirteen was exceptionally served and catered for recently at The Royal Oak. The service was friendly and timely, and the food was just brilliant. There is a lot of choice on the menu, and the pub also has a large choice...of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. This was not the first time we visited, and we will certainly be going back again and again.More
