Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Came to the Walters arms on Saturday 2nd December for a quiet meal for two at 7.30pm. Limited menu and chef was inflexible refusing a request for a half size portion from menu option to have as a starter. A live band set up next...our table and started playing very loud music from 8pm putting an end to any conversation, dessert and coffee. We retreated to the bar to finish our wine and left. Extremely disappointing. Restaurant prices but noisy pub atmosphere.More

We came for lunch at the Walter arms, we had multiple items off the menu. We got served my Matt and he was exceptional. All the food we had was incredible, tender, fresh and so flavoursome. I would defiantly recommend it to anyone thinking about...going for some lovely food and a very enjoyable evening.More

We visited on Saturday evening Our booking was 8-00pm We arrived on time On ordering our meal numerous items on the menu were not available which was disappointing We ordered main courses no starters All our meals were acceptable nothing Special To our amazement when...we tried to order desserts we were told the kitchen closed at 9 It would have been nice to have been given the opportunity to order before the kitchen closed After complaining we were told the manager Had agreed to us having deserts but to be honest the moment had passed All in all a disappointing evening Probably wouldn’t go back hereMore

I sent the following review in January 2023 to their head office. I didn't even get an acknowlegdment, let alone an apology so want to warn anyone considering this for their Christmas day this year! It was Christmas day. The staff didn't want to be...there. The starter was fridge cold and had a sweet pastry base (it was a goat’s cheese tart) and I was told that they have a continental chef who likes to do it that way. They did not offer to warm it up for me. No champagne sorbet was provided (although it was on the £80 a head Christmas day menu) and we were told they could not get any from the supplier. The turkey was like a school dinner dish. The dessert (a meringue) was overly sweet, bought in mini meringue nests that crumbled to powder. When we ordered a round of drinks at the end (a baileys, lemonade and a tap water) we were advised that these would be free of charge as they didn't have the sorbet. Why didn't they say that before we ordered a tap water!!!! As we didn't want a coffee (sa we just wanted to get out of there) we were not given the truffles that should have come at the end of our meal (also on the menu). No crackers or any type of Christmas table items were on our table. Our dinner bill at the Ivy has been cheaper than this!!! It ruined our Christmas day and if our daughter hadn't been with us we would have walked out when the starters arrived.More

We celebrated my son's engagement party in The Barn at the Walter's Arms. The staff (Jamie and others) could not have been more helpful, and accommodated our every need. They enabled us to get in early to set up and the venue was perfect for our...party of around 50 people. They even had a live band, who were amazing. The food was delicious. Thank you so much Walter's Arms. You helped us to make some lovely memories on this very special occasion.More

Quiz for the staff Questions: 1. What meat should be on a mixed grill? 2. What meat is served on the mixed grill at your restaurant? 3. What is a katsu curry? 4. What does the vegetarian katsu curry contain at your restaurant? 5. Is...it practical to serve food on a chopping board? 6. Do you clean and check under a table before you seat the next table? 7. Is it appropriate to announce in front of the whole restaurant that you are going home to get changed and that you will be back to meet everyone to go clubbing? 8. Is it appropriate for staff to be standing around the bar chatting and laughing when guests are waiting to be served? 9. How many seats do you need for a booking 9? 10. Can you eat soup with a fork? Answers 1. Lamb chop, pork chop, sausage, chicken breast, beef steak, gammon, fried egg, and tomato. 2. Lamb chop, chicken breast, gammon, chicken wings and tomato. (Extra bonus point if you can explain what on earth chicken wings are doing on there) 3. Panko breaded cutlet (e.g chicken, pork, sweet potato or aubergine), deep fried with a Japanese style curry sauce. 4. Steamed mixed veg on rice with curry sauce poured on top. Katsu refers the breaded panko cutlet not the sauce. There is nothing katsu at all in the dish you serve. 5. No, non negotiable. This is just silly. Stop doing that... it's not fancy, nor upmarket... it's just weird and food falls off. 6. You may answer yes... but you would be wrong. There was food and scribbled bits of ripped paper under the table. 7. I hope that you have answered no... otherwise, you most definitely are misled. I don't care if you're going to a club, but have a little class and don't announce it whilst people are trying to have a nice meal out. No one cares where you're going but we also don't want to hear it shouted across the restaurant. 8. No. That's just annoying. 9. This may be a suprise... but it's not 7. Even if you tell them to squeeze. 10. You could if you tried really hard. Give it a go! That's what it felt like eating at this restaurant. What did you score? Absolute jokers 😂More

Nearly pulled back out of the car park after reading recent reviews but SO glad we didn’t. Staff have been changed and a new chef is in place. Delicious, fresh, generous food and lovely friendly, quick service. Only reason for 4 stars is the price....£10 for kids main only, £18 for burger but unfortunately that’s not too far from normal these days. Give them another shot 😊More

Arrived to an indifferent welcome, placed on a sticky table. Had to say good 'evening' to the waitress as clearly uninterested. Brought a beer for my 16 year old son to have with his meal. To be told company policy does not allow this. They...spied on us and removed the drink despite it being payed for. Was offered another. However clearly unable to think for themselves considering the circumstances. Menus so small you cannot read the price just as well!More

The worst fish and chips I have ever had. Generally expect nice, crispy, home made, fluffy batter. This looked like it was just out of the freezer from a cheap supermarket and tasted even worse. The fish was a pile of mush and the chips...weren't much better. I even got charged full price because I hadnt sent it straight back but then i wouldnt even have a few chips to nibble on whilst others were eating. Used to visit here at least twice a week under previous owners. But not coming back anytime soon.More
