Matthews has been a staple in Tucker since 1955. Fantastic food and family friendly atmosphere! You will not be disappointed if you love country cookin.

Went for lunch after a work meeting and the food was awesome. Had enough to take home for dinner that night also! Great "home" cooking with lots of flavor

Both atmosphere and lunch were old-school. Simple and tasty food + sweet tea with low price in nice neighbourhood.

Good Southern cooking at Matthews is now available on Sunday afternoons. Hard to beat this "home made" selection of meats, veggies, salads, and desserts at a reasonable price. The restaurant is not opened at other weekend times, but available M-F for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Yes, there are southern food places in Metro Atlanta that have more "atmosphere," more autographed pictures on the wall, etc. But, for locals in northeast Atlanta, you just can't beat Matthews Cafeteria! Try it for breakfast, the biscuits and gravy are out of this world!

Great experience and I can't wait to drop in and try some of the other specials. I had the fried chicken, fried okra, and turnip greens. You can't beat that price for a meat and two country dinner. BTW mine was to go after working too late at the office and my fried okra was ate on the way home.... More

Loved Matthews Cafeteria! Generous portions of delicious, southern fare served cafeteria style in an unassuming location in downtown Tucker. The menu varies daily & they're only open Monday-Friday. The beef tips were tender and flavorful served over rice. The squash casserole was the best I've ever had. Loved the cornbread and ice box lemon pie for dessert. Reasonably priced and... More

I saw this on the Diners, Drive-in and Dives list for places near my friends house. We went for lunch on a Monday. This was probably the best pork loin I've ever had. It is very old school southern dining, but very good. I had the strawberry shortcake for dessert. Lunch with one main dish, two sides and a drink... More

I have been hearing about Matthew's Cafeteria for decades and yet for one reason or another never got there. I live out of town and found myself in downtown Tucker in lunch time on a weekday...so parked and enjoyed. I chose the smothered steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, and baby lima beans. I was very happy, sweet tea and easy... More

The place was crowded for lunch - a good sign. Definitely the local favorite. Simple southern cooking on Tucker's main street, with a big parking lot and people milling outside. I wouldn't go expecting a foodie experience - just an experience in local culture. Stroll through downtown before or after.
