Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Heya This is my first time ever at this pub in question. Recommended. I was here only earlier today for a family event. I had a great time here. I ordered a cheese cake at lunch time. Five out of five stars. Thank you so...much. I will return in the future.More

We had steak that you cooked yourself on a hot plate. It’s a great concept but on the pricey side. I was very surprised that you had to order chips as an extra and there was not many served up in a little basket. Sometimes...it’s better to have too much than not enough!! Staff were pleasant.More

We recently hired The Dog and Duck for our wedding and had a brilliant day. We had welcome drinks, a BBQ, live band and DJ and the venue accommodated all of our requests. Our guests all had a great time and it was really easy...to organise with their team. I would definitely recommend hiring for an event whether it be big or small as there is so much you can do with the different space options. Thanks again for making our day so special!More

Pleasant enough food with over priced beer and very ordinary food. There’s a fun fair on site at weekends which makes the place look like the school gates at 8-45 am with lots of comings and goings, Kids seem to like it. Place was ok....Not sure we’d visit again.More

It is a bit out of the way for us but we do visit whenever it is practical. The menu is quite imaginative, the food is well cooked and presented and the staff are always friendly. There is an adventure playground for the kids, plenty...of outside seating and a good size car park. It is a real find.More

We came for an early dinner over half term. We sat outside as it was a beautiful evening. The table was dirty and we were surrounded by limp deflating balloons from the remnants of some distant birthday party. I ordered a dry white wine spritzer....For a whopping £8. When it came with a lemonade mixer (gross) I asked to have it replaced with a soda water mixer. I was met with a stroppy and defiant “this is how all spritzers are made” rebuttal from the managers side kick. I took my legitimate complaint to the manager who had the same stroppy, unhelpful attitude. I was forced to pay another £8 to get my drink made with the correct mixer. Never mind o having to drink it out of a disgusting plastic cup as we were sitting outside. Apparently the very act of sitting outside means customers are unable to utilise glassware without breaking it. The kids food was disgusting. The greasy chicken nuggets were the frozen bag variety I would not feed to my dog. We wil not be going again.More

We visited with another couple and our 4 children. All the adults had roast dinners which were superb. The service provided was brilliant. Staff were very attentive and super friendly and helpful. The kids absolutely loved it as the inflatables were up next door so...spent the day back and forth between there and the pubs play area. This wasn't our first visit and definitely won't be our last. We absolutely love the Dog and Duck!More

An urn was supplied had to make our own. No teapots instant coffee. Sandwiches were dry and when the cakes arrived put on a table apart from us on a great big tray. We are an elderly group 70 and 80 year old and 4...were ill we were forced to pay for them so they got an extra £60 for that. When one of pur ladies said that if they had come there would not have been enough food to be told that they had held the extra back but we had to pay for it. There was no mention of having to pay for those who could not make as we would not have booked as a doctors appointment is much more important and us not predictableMore

My husband and I went with our adult son for a late Sunday lunch (didn’t arrive until 4:00). The pub was still bustling even that late, so the atmosphere was great. Staff were friendly and helpful, but the star of the day was the roast....Really tasty and very generous portions - all the trimmings. And probably the best crackling I’ve ever had. We will definitely be back.More

We took over the whole pub at the beginning of April. From 2pm to 11pm for my wifes 40th birthday. Prior to the event the team were great in confirming food options and letting me arrange some special touches. They decorated the pub for me...so it had that real celebration / party feeling. The Lunch and Evening buffet were fabulous. All together a fantastic day and I heard nothing bad from anyone. Loads of kids who were able to play in the garden and inside. Perfect - thank you so much. See you again for my next big birthday!!!More
