I visited the Dog and Duck yesterday for a Birthday on Bank Holiday Monday. We had a few tables on the field and it was great for social distancing. We used the eat out to help out menu which had a big variety of food for great value. I am gluten free and they catered so well for me. They made it really easy for me to find something to eat as sometimes this can be really difficult. I ended up getting a gluten free pizza which was one of the best I’ve ever had! It was lovely. My partner and my mum both got burgers and they both enjoyed their food. Overall a lovely day, thank you Dog and Duck.

i like the Dog and Duck the setting is beautiful and food good so what do you do in lockdown? Simple grab a takeaway dinner. Really safe and efficiently organised food well packed and then when you get to eat it you will not be disappointed. So much so I ordered another uncooked dish for my dinner tomorrow, 🤣 The food was lovely and tasty and it's a nice idea to treat yourself in these strange times, plus let's support our favourite local businesses, that way they stand a chance to be here when this is over. Thanks Dog & Duck my dinner was really tasty, looking forward to my next dish👍

This pub was featured in a walk on the Alltrails app. We parked in the car park and went on a very nice walk and the Dog & Duck provided the perfect ending. Good hygiene and social-distance/one-way measures in place and we were greeted with cheery faces. We sat in the front which, although by the road, was quieter than the back and we preferred it. We didn’t have to wait too long for the food and my crab salad was plentiful and delicious, with a lovely, subtle dressing on fresh salad. My husband eats fish & chips every time we go to a pub so he’s a bit of a connoisseur and he loved his meal. The batter was light and crispy, the fish perfectly cooked and the chips were also beautifully crunchy. The landlady was nice and attentive. Toilets were spotless.

Me, my partner and our son visited the pub after reading many recommendations on our local Facebook page. We came on Monday to take advantage of the Eat out to help out scheme. Was really surprised with a set menu given. I think you can’t order from a a’la carte Mon-Wed in August. The food was average and kids drink was served in a plastic disposable water cup. The biggest surprise was a receipt. Even though you are entitled to up to £10 per person discount you won’t get it due to how the set menu is designed. When questioned we got our 50% off on drinks as well, apart of a non alcoholic beer my partner had. A pub owner/Manager/Landlord should know that a non alcoholic beer is classed as a soft drink due to not having more than 0,5% ABV. Didn’t want to argue so paid and left. The pub is in a lovely area with large garden and kids play area but place itself is a little messy with a lot of clutter. A bitt disappointed and won’t be returning. Hopefully management will take my comments as a constructive criticism and will not respond with a blunt reply.

Hi and thanks for taking your time to point out the issues you had. I will look into the point you have raised re the heineken zero and if your child is allowed the 50% off on it I will return the £1.85 you are due and give you an apology. Both you and your wife had £10 off each and your son had 50% off his total meal and soft drink costs. Please explain how you didnt get the discount? So the food was average although once again on the night there were no complaints. The menu is what the menu is where does it say in the guidelines we have to offer an a la carte menu? Personally if i didnt like the menu in an establishment I wouldnt go there Please let us know where the pub was messt tbh its hard to keep a full restuarant tidy at all times although we do try our best. Sometimes its appreciated sometimes its not. O and by the way you came on Wednesday not Monday but hey we all make mistakes.

Came here for lunch on Friday afternoon and I was hoping for a nice pub lunch. The staff were friendly enough but the food was terrible! We started off sitting outside but the table had empty glasses left on it that were never cleared away, an overflowing ash tray of cigarette ends and the table was filthy. We moved inside and that was fine although the staff seemed more interested with making themselves drinks and having a chat. The food was extremely poor quality and no attention was given to what they served up. My partner order ‘pie of the day! Which looked like a packet pie that had been left in the oven for hours, it was dry with barely any filling, the triple cooked chips were so over cooked and dried out that they were hollow inside, they also decided to serve the dish swimming in gravy so the fact the food was still dry is quite an achievement. I has ordered a chicken burger which I actually ended up leaving as I couldn’t eat it. What I ordered from the menu was not what I got, it was a slimey piece of plain chicken breast shoved in a bun with a squirt of burger sauce and melted cheese. I had really hoped for more and was looking forward to going here but the food was extremely poor and not cheap at all. I won’t be going back or recommending.

Visited today with a friend and my son, 'childrens' meal was so tiny I'd say fit for 4 and under despite being £6.95 also served with insulting infant cutlery to my 20 year old son, accompanied by a warm plastic beaker of squash. My friend had jacket potato, brown and clearly days old! I ordered fishfinger sandwich, it literally popped with fat when I bit it, completely revolting, chips undercooked, asked for ketchup given 2 sachets between us, asked for more, given 2 more sachets so gave up. I left a review on another site and the response is appalling! Even worse than the food which is saying something! AVOID AVOID AVOID I wish I could give less than 1 star after my experience

Went for a family lunch, post lock down. We had a nice table outside, we were show to the table and offered drinks which arrived quickly and given paper menus. Good menu with lots of choices. We were asked to come up to the bar when we were ready to order and pay for the drinks along with the food which we did. Food came, it was very disappointing, some was slightly undercooked. We were not given any condiments & nobody came back to the table after serving us to check if the food was OK. When they came to clear the plates, we were then asked how the food was and nothing was really said when we mentioned it being undercooked. As we hadn't eaten much of it, we would of liked desserts but none of the waitors or waitresses offered to bring us a dessert menu, so we left feeling dissapointed by our first post lock down trip out.

I must start out by saying, I’m a great fan of this pub, have eaten and drank here on and off for 30 years and will continue to do so. They have a wonderful garden, excellent kids area and ample parking for when big groups of us can meet up. Today’s food however was really poor. The normally large juicy burger was no more than 3/4 oz and for £13 would expect a lot better. The salt and pepper squid was nothing of the sort. It was really cheap deep fried calamari rings. To the point they have no taste! However, my father and partner loved their lunch. Both ales were in fine condition and the place was immaculate as normal. By far one of the best pubs around. Plenty of staff around and lots of sanitised and cleaning being done. I hope they take note of this and change the squid and “beef” the burger up!

While in the middle of this corona virus lock down, To find a little Gem like the Dog and Duck serving surpurb quality food Takeaways and delivery service, it was a real treat in these testing times. If this is something to go by I will be a regular customer for the stunning Pizzas and more they are serving. Very frieldy staff and took extreme care to adhere to the social distancing rules to keep me safe. Thanks guys, Made our day. Stay safe and keep up the good work.

My family and friends have been visiting the Dog and Duck for the last 5 years or so since the present owners took over. We normally visit on a weekday lunchtime for a meal, however I have occasionally visited on a weekend for a lunchtime drink and have also attended a few of their events. I am not a food critic, but my opinion of the meals is that we have never had a bad one and would rate the quality of the food as good to excellent. We also visit other local pubs and restaurants but the thing that stands out is at the D&D and is not always shown at other venues, is that the Management and staff care about what they are doing. We are always made very welcome and comfortable and this is very reassuring as one of our friends who sometimes visits with us is blind and disabled. They are in a very demanding business and they admit that occasionally they have a problem. However, the customer is always the first to know about the problem the have and this, in my judgement, is what good true management and commitment to clients is all about. Well done D&D. See you soon

My friend wrote a review on here with the same title and quite honestly the response from the owner was terrible accusing us of trying it on and being drunk!!! How professional!! The four of us arrived at approx 6:30 to an allocated table outside, which wasn’t very clean so asked to be moved, we sat at G6 near the pond. We ordered a bottle of Rose and was told it was the last one, no wine cooler was offered. The two men ordered one beer each. We ordered 3 fish and chips and a calamari starter. The fish had too much batter and was very greasy, the triple cooked chips were not! The calamari tasted of chicken. We were polite in our food criticism and asked the owner to try the food, she declined. The men had consumed two pints each and my friend and I shared a bottle of rose, we ordered a taxi and left, we hadn’t even stayed a hour. The owner has stated that we were drunk having consumed numerous bottles of wine and were only after a free meal, her response is very unprofessional perhaps other people were complaining also and she has our table mixed up. I hope she apologises,

So we await part 3 and 4 with baited breath. Fact: When criticism is due we accept it with good grace and act on it the right way. When you accuse us of food poisoning without evidence then you cross a line. At no point were you accused of being drunk. At no point did you mention the now all of a sudern dirty table. When you were heard by other customers saying what you were going to do, what else could i reply with? If you were not supplied with a wine bucket, as you should of been, did you ask for one on the day or not? Was not a bad attitude but pure shock to the initial complaint. No other tables complained at all since reopening so no you were not mixed up with anybody else. So 3 stars is now down to 1 star as you didnt like the responce interesting. I will say sorry for refunding you for a meal that was eaten in full, really dont see why I should of under these circumstances, but thought it would appease you. How mistaken I was. Having seen your previous reviews on trip advisor i can see we are very much not alone in your low star ratings. Cotes Reigate, the Bell in Godstone, the Old Inn Copthorne, Cloisters in Redhill amonst others. Everyone has a bad attitude. Maybe you should stay in and cook more often.

Before lockdown we loved visiting this beautiful pub. During lockdown we missed it so much we did however have a few collection takeaways which was perfect quality only thing missing was the garden and staff. NOW!!! Where do I start. With all going on in the world we needed to venture out and decided to go as a family for a sunday roast. Spot on It blows me away the professionalism and friendliness of the staff at this pub! When entering the pub we was greeted by bar staff 2 lovely ladies who quickly found our table and got our drinks. Bar staff are always very happy and bubbly at this pub making you feel welcome. Now let's get on to the best part the FOOD. Wow wow wow start to finish we was blown away everyone on our table had empty plates. (Doesn't normally happen at home.) Love the fact kids can have pizza now, but they are not little cheapie things most pubs serve. (My son said they are better than some big pizza names) Now we have visited so many times and my previous reviews have always praised this pub. But supporting this local business is what it needs to get through this covid mess! We will be back time after time because the food is stunning the staff make you feel welcome and the grounds are beautiful. Love the idea of the garden being sectioned off. Well done from the management to all the staff but a bigger well done to the kitchen never fails us but we all agreed was the best food we have ever had here. Keep going dog and duck team! See you again at the weekend.

Had a visit here today with my young son and my parents. I’ve been here 3 times now and my parents were as impressed as me. Can not fault the food. We had the roast lunch and it was the best home cooked roast we’ve had in a long time. All of our plates were cleared by the end of it. We were able to squeeze in dessert and again, delicious! I highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding, it was amazing! From walking in and to leaving we were made to feel very welcome and it had a very friendly atmosphere. A real family feel and again makes such a difference to walk in and feel like that. Didn’t realise dogs were allowed so will bring mine next time. Good outside area for the children, lots of space, ashame the weather wasn’t great today but we really appreciate the bread given to us to feed the ducks. It’s the simple things. Will look forward to the warmer weather. Felt very Covid safe and nicely organised in that sense. The landlady and landlord deserve the business at the dog and duck and we would highly recommend a visit. Thank you again for our lovely lunch and we will be back!x

Me and my partner visited the pub for dinner and took advantage of the eat out to help out scheme - which is an amazing deal! We had the salt and pepper calamari rings and the BBQ wing to start which were both lovely and good size portions. For our mains we had the meat lasagne with garlic ciabatta and the beef burger with cheese and bacon with skinny fries. All plates were polished and we were slightly gutted we didn't have enough room to fit in a dessert, however we will be back again - would definitely recommend visiting if you get the chance too!! Lovely, friendly staff too. Also I will add the restaurant/bar areas were nearly full so would suggest to book prior to visiting, considering it was this busy there wasn't a long wait for food either and presentation lovely also. 10/10

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. My wife, our young son and myself ate there this November just before the second national lockdown. The meal was delicious and the choices on the menu were varied. Our son ate one of the kids meals and my wife and I loved the lasagne followed by dessert. We would definitely go again once places like this are allowed to re-open. They gave us a take-out menu to take with us so they are able to serve food through these very difficult times.
