Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing. The pub has changed so much for the better. Food on point. Chef Bradley’s buttermilk chicken burgers are heavenly and the new scotch egg starter to die for. Just the best. So nice to welcome boaters on the Oxford canal. Love the Wharf. Friendly,...great staff, dogs welcome, canal side view.More

First time visiting here and was very pleased with the food. Roast dinner was a very large portion and tasted great, followed by sticky toffee pudding which was also very good. I had driven by this place a few times in the past and decided...to finally make the trip to here and was not disappointed. Would definitely come here again.More

Husband and I visited for lunch as we hadn't been here for such a long time.not sure if they just wanted a complete change or it now has new owners but either way it's lovely.the menu is now a proper resturant menu and reasonable prices.we...had 3 courses although we just wanted a light lunch.we had the belly pork and it was lovely, cooked perfectly, nice and hot.cannot fault the food at all, however the service was very very slow. Waited 20mins from finishing staters for them to clear plates then mains came out immediately After.then another 25mins to clear our mains.staff were walking past and could clearly see we were finished.it was not overly busy so there was no reason for plates not to be cleared as staff walked past.then waited another 15 mins for them to take dessert order.again we cannot fault the food but the service needs to be ramped up slightly.we always leave a good tip when eating out but on this occasion due to service we unfortuanatly declined.we will visit again and hopefully this is looked into and addressed .More

Our first visit was on our Wedding Anniversary, and we stumbled on this venue completely by chance. Our reception was warm and welcoming on a busy Saturday evening and we were especially pleased to find that the majority of the menu is gluten-free. The food...was excellent and the service prompt and friendly, which was just what we needed after a long day negotiating the locks on the canal! We booked for our return on the Monday, even though we didn't know exactly what time we would be arriving we were assured that the kitchen would stay open for us. Michael and John made us feel completely at home and we wish them both every success in the future .More

Moored the boat after a long and very wet and windy journey, 1 hour late for our booking but absolutely no problem, great welcome from manager and excellent food, a proper kitchen and chef!!! Even though the kitchen should have closed they kept it open...for another crew who were even more delayed. Lovely outside seating area in the summer. A must if you are travelling along the South Oxford Canal.More

Can't fault it at all. Reserved tables for 20 of us and the service was great. The meals for each group came out together. The food was fantastic and big portions. Thank you and we will definitely be back again!

Many positive reviews on here made me think the local talk wasn’t true. I had heard the service was poor the food came out at different times and although it looks good it really isn’t. Well gave it a go today for a family birthday....I can honestly say, what I have heard turns out to be true! Sadly poor reception on arrival, non of the drinks we wanted were available (orange juice and tomato juice) we had to buy more as the selection we did buy wasn’t great. The food came out and one was missing. When it did come out, a burger, it was on stale bread and the meat tasted like it was well past the sell to customers date. It was returned. No other option was offered or apology for something wrong. Not even a thank you for coming when we left. I can only think as there was only one person to take care of lunchtime, it was his last day and he didn’t give a sh*t about the service, quality or business. No return visit for us!More

We recently stopped at the pub on the way home from Coventry and enjoyed our meal so much that we booked a table for 10 people for my step sons 30th birthday. Last night was the birthday meal, and yet again, we weren't disappointed. The...service was excellent and all of us really enjoyed our meals (high praise indeed from one of the party who is a chef at another local pub!). Three of the party had meatballs to start and were still raving about them this morning. My mother is a really fussy eater but they really kindly did a combination of a starter and main course. The food was delicious, very generous portions and reasonably priced. To top it off the birthday boy had a complimentary meal. Thank you to all the staff........we will be back again soon.More

I’ve been to The Wharf many times over many years and enjoyed the food and general relaxed atmosphere, but this evenings visit was the best so far. The food was really excellent, not over priced and a good variety to choose from. The stand out...was the staff. From the 1st hello when we walked in the tone was set, and continued throughout the whole visit. It was one of our parties 50th and we bought a cake along with us, and the young man who greeted us immediately offered to take it and find candles and bring it out at the right moment. Perfect! Sadly, didn’t get his name but he and the other female servers were superb. Highly recommend this place and will 100% go back again.More

I can't believe I don't come here more often! Such a lovely place, atmosphere and the food was Traditional pub classics but with an upgrade, the pie was perfect which I had and the portion size is generous. Wonderful, friendly staff and so accommodating to...your requests. I came with 2 children under 9 and they really enjoyed their food and they have loads of room in the garden for them to run around in. Come when it's light tho, will put it in top 2 favourite places to visit for food. Been before with a large group and they were just as accommodating and food was also as delicious. Would recommend to visit 🙌🏼More

I got a puncture on the main road and limped the car into the Wharf carpark as the 1st safe space to stop, called the RAC and were waiting for them to arrive. We went in explained the situation and the staff and manager couldn't...have been more welcoming or more helpful. The wait for the RAC was uncertain, so we could only order drinks and not food. There was no problem with this at all. When it got to a lull and no one else needed serving, the manager said that he would go out and have a look at the tyre and see if her could fix it enough for us to be able to get home as the wait for the RAC was then 2 to 3 hours. Unfortunately, there was a cut in the tyre, so it wasn't fixable, so I decided to have a snack whilst we waited for the RAC. I had a small plate/starter (as again uncertain as to how long we would have to eat it). This was very tasty, nicely presented and a very good sized portion. I also liked that the Wharf had a pub atmosphere, there were groups of friends just drinking and chatting, people coming in who lived in the canal as well as those people who had booked for food. We were in the pub from about 5.30pm to about 8.30pm and at all times the staff were friendly and understanding of the situation. We had stopped using the Wharf a few years back, but after seeing great looking food come out, and our positive experience we will be returning for a proper meal soon. Thank you to all the staff that made us feel so relaxed and welcome at what could have been a stressful time.More
