A fun little lunch counter cafe. I have a feeling this places looks similar to what it did during the heights of rail travel. Very affordable prices with daily specials. The food is very simple but good. We had a hot beef sando and the Manhattan melt (grilled ham and cheese with saute'd onions) and the salad bar. I like... More

We stopped here on our way from Craters of the Moon to Boise. Manhattan Cafe looks like a painting of Normann Rockwell - a typical American diner. While eating our huge breakfast we enjoyed watching the LONG trains through the window. We were even invited by some other guests, the waitress would only tell us, after they had left -... More

There are just a handful of dining options in Shoshone, including the venerable Manhattan Cafe, established in 1890. The Manhattan serves coffeeshop type food, including a reasonably priced daily special. Don't expect the same high-toned eats that you'll get "up north" (as locals refer to Sun Valley!) It's down home food right across the street from the railroad tracks, and... More

Stop at the Manhattan for a quick meal. The food is down home and tasty. There are lots of options on the menu. The prices are reasonable.

Stopped here on a road trip between. We needed food and this was the first "large" town on the route. Wish we had looked ahead as there was a much larger town about 15 miles away. A lot of food choices but quality is poor. Server asked us how the food was and when we gave negative feedback her response... More

I've been going to the Manhattan Café for 31 years. It continues to improve with remodeling, updated menu and reasonable prices. The wait staff is enthusiastic and efficient MOST of the time. The breakfast menu is a great option and available all the time. My favorite is the Lil Pardner with bacon crisp, hashbrowns crisp and egg over medium. Sour... More

Great food in a relaxed atmosphere and the coffee is always fresh and hot. We go at least once a month and enjoy it every time.

We stopped in here for Lunch in our travels. It was a quiet little town and was certainly one of the only eating places. It appears popular with the locals. There was some old fashion counter seating and an old style soda fountain. The decor recorded the history of the railway in the town. The menu was your basic diner... More

Although the pie that we enjoyed on our first visit was quite tasty, we were greatly disappointed in our late lunch the following day. My husband's pork chop dinner consisted of two barely half inch thick, dry and hard chops. My cubed steak sandwich came on dry toasted bread with no mayo, lettuce or tomato. We will not return.

We stopped on our way from hiking Crater of the Moon and were starving-- we had the daily special which was the Swiss burger and a regular cheeseburger. It was hot and fresh and perfectly cooked. This is a very old- style diner and it is not spotless but decently clean. The waitress was very friendly and allowed us to... More
