We had late lunch at The Greyhound this afternoon. My wife had a beef roast, I had chicken pate followed by the chicken roast. The food was excellent, generous portions, reasonable prices. The young lady who looked after us was quick, attentive and helpful.

My partner and I popped in for our date night and had the most amazing meal. The bloody Mary prawn cocktail was wonderful (and in my words...the best prawn cocktail ever!!) Main course of steaks and sides were also delicious - all served by friendly,...professional and welcoming staff. The landlord was on hand to answer any questions about the menu and delivered our pints with a smile and chat. The atmosphere was friendly and we'll definitely be calling in again :) An all round fab pub!!More

My husband and I visited with friends for Friday evening dinner and drinks. We’ve quite often frequented the pub / restaurant and have had a nice meal and good service. This time was unfortunately different. The food was ok, the issue however was the misleading...menu. The burgers indicated they came with a side dish of chips or suchlike when in fact they were extra. I even clarified with the waitress on ordering. When the bill came we were surprised to see side dishes had been added. I queried this with the manger who’s attitude was quite matter of fact and rude. I explained why I thought it was misleading and he was very dismissive and might as well as told me tough. In addition to this we’ve quite often had an after dinner cocktail when we’ve been here before. This time we were told they were not a cocktail bar, again with a dismissive attitude. This was before I’d even queried the bill. Overall a disappointing and unpleasant end to our evening. If a manager cannot be challenged and respond in a polite and non defensive way they shouldn’t be in the position they are in.More

My partner and I stopped at this pub for some food following Reading festival and certainly were not disappointed. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The menu had a lot of choice, including a lot of different side options as well as an extensive...pizza menu. The food arrived with us after 15 mins of ordering, and was all delicious. The portion sizes were large, and we even asked to take the left overs with us for later. Couldn't reccomend highly enough Thanks!More

A last minute booking whilst in the area, we fancied a late lunch, and were so pleased! Our server, Andrew was superb, a brilliant example of someone who belongs in hospitality- he clearly enjoyed taking care of us and had such pride in the food...etc. Food was speedy, tasty and nice selection of drinks. Reasonably priced too. Only problem is the card machine didn’t offer us the opportunity to tip and we had no cash - so sorry Andrew I felt awful not being able to tip would have upped value had I known!More

Since lockdown has eased Mrs C, Neville the Kromis and I have been venturing out a bit more for lunches. The Greyhound is fast becoming our place of choice. The welcome is always warm and inviting, Nev gets dog treats and ear ruffles, Mrs C....and I get to eat decent food and have one of the best pints of Pride around. For one reason or another I struggle to eat large meals, so the light bites on the menu, shared between the two of us work well for lunch. Today we had Asian crab cakes and the squid dish with mango and chilli, Nev let us share his portion of parmesan fries. The pudding of summer berries was a lovely way to finish off the meal.More

Really welcoming staff, booked a table online, took our dog. Was informed dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, but had tables free in bar which we could sit and eat at. Dispute being sold out of a few options we all found something to...eat. All clean plates at the end for main and dessert. Just a great friendly pub with tasty food! Plus the price of the food and drink are good too.More

Popped in here for a mid week lunch with a friend. Arrived pretty much as it opened and had no problems finding a table. Bit of a limited menu, no options of sandwiches or alike for lunch, so I opted for the soup of the...day and my friend a small portion of sausage and mash. The food did take quite a long time arrive, which was a little frustrating as I had popped out for something to eat in my work lunch break. That said the soup and sourdough was very nice and plenty of it and my friend said hers was a marked improvement on the last time she had eaten there so perhaps they had changed the chef!More
