Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went for lunch with a friend today. First impressions were a nice venue but bitterly cold. There was no heating on and the staff seemed unable to successfully light the woodburner, however, they did manage to fill the dining room with smoke! So on to...the food …. we both opted for roast turkey as it’s nearly Christmas. When it arrived it looked like a school dinner, a couple of slices of round processed turkey, very lumpy not seasoned inedible mashed potatoes, some shredded cabbage and peas, a disc of stuffing and a pot of runny gravy. Everything but the stuffing was tasteless and colourless. The one member of staff was pleasant enough but did not react at all when I said it was the worst lunch I’ve ever had! We were not asked why, or offered anything to compensate. I would not recommend or return any time soon.More

Our "Go to" place when out with our dog and in need of lunch. I arranged to meet a mate with his dog to take advantage of the 20% off offer. Shared plates of prawns, arancini and dipping camembert, washed down with a couple of...pints of London Pride. Food and service as always tip top.More

Apparently just got flooded out, the carpets are still down and pub stinks, they have 2 dogs and I think they have been peeing on the carpet. There was one radiator on in the bar, it was very cold, probably due to the wet carpets....Will not go backMore

Went for Sunday lunch last week at 2 only to be told once seated that roasts had ran out, shocking. Nobody seemed to care and just offered normal menu which proceeded to take am hour for 3 of us. Staff giggling at the bar whilst...we waited for drinks atleast 20 minutes. First and last time visiting.More

I had the unfortunate pleasure of dining at the greyhound on Sunday 9th October. We were a table of 3 and all ordered roast Beef, when the food came out we had 1 worthless piece of beef which was tough as hell, it also came...with no Yorkshire puddings. When I asked our server how much was I paying, I asked her to take it back to the chef and ask if he thought his plate of food worthy of the £18.95. The plate came back and I was told that the chef would bring me a 2nd slice which again was cold and tough. My 2 dining partners were not offered any thing extra. To top it all off, the cleanliness of the pub is not great, with a number of insects and pests being on the tables and in the carpets. I can honestly say that the pub is very over rated.More

We have driven past this place so many times and decided to pop in last minute... it was absolutely lovely.. my partner had the chicken pie and said it was one of the best he's had in ages.. the only noticeable things was he wanted...more gravy, but thats his personal preference.. I had the chicken burger and it has definitely been one of the best I have ever had.. it was absolutely lovely and cannot wait to visit again! Such a lovely pub with friendly staff.. would definitely recommend to anyone!More

I had lunch at The Greyhound with a friend today and felt inclined to leave a review. I had the chicken burger and it was genuinely the BEST burger I’ve ever had. The food was fantastic - super fresh, tasty food and friendly quick service....Definitely recommend.More

AVOID at all costs. Front of house staff just stand their giggling and gossiping and not serving customers, not professional at all. Over an hour wait for a couple of pizzas in a near empty pub and staff don't care and say it's "not their...fault". Possibly the worst hospitality I've ever experienced. Never again.More

70th birthday lunch for 8 people - meals were tasteless, colourless and overcooked. Staff were very nice but we were given nothing complimentary to compensate and no discount off the final bill. I would not recommend or return and will be posting accordingly on Trip...Advisor and Google reviews etc The booking process was inefficient and when I rang to chase it up, I was unimpressed by the attitude of the man I spoke to.More

Would not rate the roast dinner. No beef left. Then there was not enough chicken left to cover the place settings for our table. Pork that came out was awful. Vegetables served were swede and red cabbage- where were the greens?? Parsnips undercooked. Potatoes rock...hard- couldn't get the knife through them. My poor nan couldn't cut her own food up (how demeaning!) Chicken overcooked (or sat there for the day). Had to ask for extra gravy as hardly any on plates- charged for that. Charged for a few extra biscuits for cheese boards. Coffee was cold- by this time I didn't even have the energy to say anything. Then came to pay the bill and service charge of £21 already added on. Safe to say this was the first and last time we will be visiting. Such a shame as we are local and enjoy eating out as a large party. We were excited to eat here as well!More

Booked a table for 8 today when we arrived there was no roast beef so we ordered chicken then there was not enough chicken! Had to go for belly pork which was so salty , I cannot explain how bad the veges were or lack...of red cabbage undercooked parsnip and dreadful swede slso the roast potatoes had that taste that they were reheated up from being cooked the day before ! My mum who’s 85 said it was the worst roast dinner she had eaten .my granddaughter wanted a little more gravy as she hardly had any and we were charged extra on the bill and ordered cheese and biscuits as the men were still hungry and they charged extra for 4 small crackers so they could finish up the cheese absolutely disgusting, I am all for praising restaurants when you get good food right but this was the first time we came to this pub and it will certainly be the last such a shame as this is on our doorstep.More

Saturday 29 May. Son and I sat outside in the sunshine. Eggs Benedict for him and the Squid for me. For mains we both had the Seabass and lemon risotto with buttered spinach. Bottle of Pinot Grigio. Food was excellent and so was the service.

We went for Sunday lunch - a motley crew of nine plus an eight week old. Staff were helpful especially the Ukrainian girl (slightly stunned to find at least three of our party spoke Russian!) mostly we had the traditional Sunday roast, which I thought...well above average with tender, pink beef, light Yorkshire and good veg. Plus they served the gravy on the side so not all swamped, which was great. We shared - though shouldn’t - a good sticky toffee pudding. Nice looking thatched pub with a fair bit of outside space though it was a bit chilly for that today. Would go back like a shot.More
