My sister and I enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast here on the best day of the year so far! It was so lovely to sit outside and enjoy the tranquil surroundings with some lovely food and a glass of wine. I had the beef and my sister had roast ham - both were lovely. We both had a dessert and... More

A very nice venue with lots of outside seating if the weather is good. The food is all very well cooked and presented and the staff are all very friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We were a large group (25) for a Birthday celebration. We were delighted with The Barn Yard in every way. Something to do for everyone. Young children in our group and the outside area on a sunny day was a hit with the youngsters. The shop was an attraction too! Brian (manager) inspires confidence. Throughout all our communication when planning... More

Visited the Barnyard this afternoon for Cream Tea with my friend who is 93 years old. She is in a wheelchair. We came to the restaurant through the shop - none of the staff directed us through the wheelchair route so it was only when we reached the steps of the restaurant that a member of staff approached us to... Thank you for leaving a review of our restaurant. I will answer your feedback point by point. Our wheelchair access is through our shop or courtyard via our side bar door. If you came through when our ladies in our farm shop were busy at the other end of the shop then they couldn't have told you this. However it... More

Dropped in here for bite to eat one Sunday. Lovely menu including roasts, quiche of the day, kofta skewers etc. Nice selection and when they came, they were big portions that tasted delicious. Desserts looked gorgeous but we resisted. Give this place a go but best to book as it gets very busy.

Monday 13th was so sunny day for lunch so we ate outside. There is a bit of a midge problem but food was good and service excellent. My burger was a little small but fish was huge will choose that next time. The have now closed the animal zoo so a bit of a dissapointment for the kids.

Thank you for leaving a 5 star review of The BarnYard. Unfortunately, the midge problem was with us outside for a couple of days (where I suppose the weather went from being very cold and damp to very warm very quickly) but glad it didn't put you off dining outside which is a really lovely experience. Although our animals have... More

We were invited to lunch by some friends. The company was marvelous, the setting is very nice and the place itself is very attractive and comfortable. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy but it had a very pleasant atmosphere. The menu looked quite good and we selected starters and main courses. What really let it down was the quality of the... Thank you for taking time out to leave a review of our venue. I must say I am surprised that you only gave us two stars as you praised everything but the food. I am also a little confused as the potted shrimp starter hasn't been on our menu for a couple of months now so not sure how long... More

The service was quick and very polite and the restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere. My husband had steak which he said was just perfect. I had the chicken which was perfectly cooked and some vegetables - fresh vegetables. Coffee was delicious as were the waffles my husband consumed with great pleasure. Will go again. Nicely situated outside the Medway towns off the A2 road. Great meals served, we love going there for a coffee and fruit scone with jam and cream. Plenty to do with young children as there is a small farm with a range of animals for youngsters to feed and see at close quarters.

Description
The Barnyard is a rustic venue in the middle of the Kentish countryside near Upchurch that comprises an artisan Farm Shop selling (amongst other things) home grown fruits, veggies and cheeses, and restaurant. Set amongst 150 acres of woodlands and orchards, this idyllic escape is the perfect spot for weddings and lazy lunches, and our restaurant is a homely dining room as well as an al fresco paved patio and terrace for sunny days. Imbued with a countrysidey sense of calm, our restaurant at the Barnyard prides itself on its modern British menu.
