This little spot is a gem. So warm and arty with its mismatched tables and chairs... A great place for exotic coffees and wonderful baking. The ladies behind the counter are charming and chatty. The spot seems to attract a lot of local folk who know each other (I am a tourist..). And the washroom is huge and cleverly decorated.... More

Stopped here for a tea and delicious baked treat. Staff is very friendly and love Metchosin in general. A great community and I always love to support local.

Shannon & Co provide the best a coffee house could offer. Scratch soups (In Metchosin they call that "Artisan"), fresh baked goods made on site, warm smiles, awesome atmosphere and of course, the best coffee in Victoria.

Absolutely awesome coffee and warm environment. Staff are very friendly. This is what I would cal a "Real" coffee shop.

Granted, you don't have a lot of choice in Metchosin and this place is one that opens early. Coffee and breakfast sandwiches are good. The owner cares about what goes into the food and is willing to talk to you about it! It's also the town meeting place, so if you go in the morning, be prepared to meet people.... More

The menu at the Broken Paddle is minimal; the food though is quite good. Their spanakopita and energy balls (cocoa, seeds and raisins, etc.) are very good. Soups vary but are generally good. The service varies from acceptable to abysmal. I once sat waiting for a sandwich for 45 minutes with only one other customer in the place and the... More

This is a Coffee Shop, not a restaurant, so don't go there expecting something more . As a coffee shop, it rates right up there, excellent coffees, good home baked snacks, good service. Also remember it is Cash Only, which is good. As Shannon says, " Cash talks, Credit walks ( over to the bank machine at the corner store)... More

Pleasant service, good coffee, homemade soups, scones, muffins and more. A real town meet up kind of place.

I really wish I could say I love this place. It is one of only two local places. I go to lunch with a friend almost every week though and we finally realized we were so frustrated by this place that we would rather pay more and eat elsewhere. What they make is good: quesadillas, energy balls, samosas, etc. No... More
