Mercat is located in the lobby of the Blackstone . The Spanish style breakfast was great . The Blackstone Benidict will leave you wanting to come back every weekend for brunch . Just like any other Benedict but they add a truffle sauce that is great . We didn't get a chance to try dinner but it looks like they... More

Chicago has many fine restaurants and this is amongst them. If you like Spanish tapas and similar food this is a great spot. A wide choice to pick from. Staff very good & knowledgeable of the choices. Has good wine pairings. Not too expensive and good atmosphere.

The downstairs has a bar and some tables for some casual seating while the upstairs has the bar and a dining area. It is located right off of Michigan Ave. The dishes are served tapas-style. They are delicious. The Short ribs are spectacular.

Popped into the bar with my wife and son after the Ireland rugby game last weekend. The bartender was rude beyond belief, asking for the money before I even completed my order and doing so with total lack of charm and borderline hostility. One of his co-workers did try to apologize for him. We will never go back.

malibuirishmike - I'm very sorry to hear about your experience at the bar. The interaction you described is far from the expectations we set for our staff, and is atypical of the level of hospitality our guests are usually given. I can assure you that this will be addressed with the staff, feedback like yours gives us an opportunity to... More

We showed up on a weekend evening after our other plans fell through. The place is a bit hard to find, a small door at the base of the Blackstone. Downstairs is a bar, which was not quite what you would expect at a tapas restaurant. The decor upstairs is modern, much more fitting for the type of food and... More

Great tapas, full bar, great service and a really cool space are the highlights. Really no low lights. We went with the "chef's choice" which is three courses of a mix of different items. takes the guesswork out of it plus allows us to taste a wide range of choices. Really had no bad item, and a few (appetizer cheese... More

Based on the food and service, I would have rated this restaurant five stars rather than four - and it is possible that my wife and I are pickier about noise levels than most people. But we found the noise level (we were part of a party of 7) bordering on intolerable, making it difficult to talk to those next... More

Delivered everything we were hoping for. Prompt, friendly and attentive service and an excellent variety of nice presented and flavourful tapas. The bruschetta sampler brought to our table just after arriving was made fresh and good indication of what was to come. The charcuterie plate was an interesting assortment of non-typical meats and the garlic shrimp came in oil that... More

Went here for dinner as we were staying at the Blackstone. Made reservations well in advance. Hostess very distracted by another employee when we arrived and wanted to seat us (a couple) in between a large family group of about 8 and another group of about 4-5 even though the restaurant was only half full. When we asked for another... More
