My friends and I decided to go this restaurant for lunch since it's really a famous one. We had a high expectation. As we arrived there right after the opening time, we didn't wait for a long time. At least, that was the good start. Bone marrow seemed interesting to me and asked a waiter about the portion(I was not... More

Be prepared for a bit of a wait in this small restaurant. From appetizer through dessert the food was outstanding! A wide variety of choice, everything we tried was delicious. Service was fast and attentive.

Purple Pig is a small plates restaurant with great food and an extensive wine list. The menu and wine list change fairly frequently, so there are always new things to try. While the wine list had a truly absurd mark-up when they first opened, the pricing has, over time, come more into line with the mark-ups charged at other restaurants... More

We visited The Purple Pig for dinner on 12/2. My wife's bloody mary was excellent and the menu choices are varied and unique. The pancetta wrapped guinea hen dish was excellent as well as the tuna appetizer/salad. We really enjoyed our dinner and the service was also excellent! Would like to try some of the other menu items.

Everything we had was amazing. Such incredible flavours. Wine list was excellent. Pork shoulder, calamari, the lamb and bone marrow were standouts, tough everything was good. I thought the prices were reasonable (even the wine) for such an interesting, quality restaurant. Also, special mention to the staff, they're awesome. PS we turned up just after midday on a Sunday and... More

I had many people recommend this place to me for where I should eat. I went there on my first night with my male friend for dinner. We ordered some meat and cheese. I paired with a fabulous Pinot Noir (that was so amazing - the wine list was impressive!). We then ordered the meat balls - which were out... More

We recently went to the Purple Pig after seeing Hamilton. The food selection was outstanding and we especially enjoyed the cheese tray selection as well as the interesting options of wild game and meats. There was a convention in town which could have accounted for the crowd, but for a Wednesday night at 11, this place was packed and you... More

It's rare to find such exciting food in such a comfortable, casual atmosphere. Go often because the menu changes. Start with the bone marrow. Fatty goodness on delicious bread with a lemony flat leaf parsley salad. Fantastic. Next we enjoyed the fork tender pork shoulder with creamy potatoes. I wanted to lick the plate. The scallops with parsnips were also... More

This was about our tenth time at the purple pig. We are usually in a group of 5-7 people. With a group that size, one can taste a greater number of their wonderful small plates and cheese. While the food is meat oriented there are good vegetarian options. Excellent wine selection.

This is a new restaurant from the house of Bannos (owners of the infamously popular Heaven on Seven, here in Chicago). They have now opened what could affectionately be called the foodie tourists' dream come true, with everything from bone marrow to fried pig's ears and fresh ricotta as well as a nice selection of paninis, and of course, the wines. Not to mention: Its right on the Magnificent Mile!
