Boy can Jimmy make a great old fashioned! This is a super friendly, cozy little spot! If you want a beer or a well made stiff drink for a pittance of the cost compared to every bar in the area... this is your place! Had a blast & plan to go back tonight! Cheers!

When going to the city Pippin's is our first stop for a drink. This is a neighborhood style bar in the city. The beer selection was very good and the bartender was excellent.

After a day of shopping, my adult daughter and I wanted a drink and found this great pub. The atmosphere was bright, fun, and friendly. The drinks were well made and not outrageously expensive. The staff was attentive and friendly. As a visiting Christmas shopper, this was a marvelous find. We will definitely be back if we stay in the... More

Every year we head to Chicago to do some shopping downtown and enjoy the city and will always end up stopping at Pippins. It is a small pub just off Michigan ave that is a lot of fun. The service is always great and the it has good energy in the bar. They do not have a kitchen at the... More

While walking around looking for a place to eat and drink, we popped into Pippin's on a Thursday night in September and found a lively crowd. Some were watching the NFL game and others were just enjoying each other's company. We ordered a few beers and some food (hot dogs, sandwich, fries) which apparently comes from the little shack next... More

One of the few remaining places that doesn't feel like the area it is in. More of an older drinkers type of bar where everyone can come together and drink away the cold weather.

Used to go to pippins when I lived in chicago years ago. Glad to see it hasn't changed on a recent trip. It's a great local neighborhood option that doesn't take itself too seriously while being in a touristy neighborhood. Great for a drink in a dive bar location.

Venerable old tavern a block off the Michigan Avenue tourist strip that seems stuck in time -- while the surrounding neighborhood has acquired Peninsula and Four Seasons hotels and an avalanche of status brands, from Bentley and Rolls-Royce to Cartier and Prada, Pippin's is defiantly unevolved. A little threadbare, a lot unpretentious. Fine. If only the prices hadn't evolved, ambitiously.... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
