This was my first visit to Emilio's in downtown Chicago, thought we have dined many times at Emilio's suburban locations for many years. Last night's dinner definitely did not disappoint. We ordered several rounds of tapas, all a delight. The salmon was tasty and beautifully presented. The mussels were prepared to perfect. And this is the beginning--the two of us... More

Arrived here from a long flight and we were hungry so we tried many tapas and not one we could say was mediocre. The only thing was we ordered too many at one time and would suggest to order two at a time as the tapas are very large portions. We only wish we could have returned but there are... More

We went in for lunch. We thought the lunch menu was somewhat limited so ordered lunch soup and regular salad (which was large) and chicken casserole (tapa) all to share. The salad with apples and casserole of chicken were excellent. Our waitress, Norma, was great.

I'm admittedly a tapas lover and maybe a little snobbish, so 5 stars would be very hard. Emilio's was close. Had a little bit of everything until totally stuffed. The steak was delicious as was the blueberry dessert (with ice cream). Flan was very good. Chocolate cake w/ raspberry sauce was OK. The omelet was OK. The paella was with... More

Gracias for your review, we really appreciate it when guests take time to let us know how we are doing. I would like to make a correction. The datiles ( bacon wrapped dates) are made with a red pepper cream sauce, no cheese at all. It's a very popular dish, but I understand not to your liking. We always have... More

I visited this restaurant a few years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was my first experience with Tapas or small plates. We sat on the patio right off Ohio street and enjoyed Sangria and great conversation while watching passers-by. It was such a great first experience. I've always wanted to go back, but have never had a chance to... More

We stopped in because the restaurant was a few blocks from our hotel. Food was excellent and service was good. Definitely would have loved to stay and absorb the atmosphere, but we had a futbol game to attend.

Lots of tasty plates to choose from - big variety. 5 of us and there was ample on each plate for everyone to have a taste. Grilled octopus and as excellent. Seafood paella was very tasty. Garlic bread was a bit disappointing - don't think they use butter.

Dear BigFootMidlands, thank you for your review! Our grilled Octopus is to die for and it comes from the coast of Spain - I think it is outstanding too! The garlic bread that comes with the Queso de Cabra is not made with butter but with EVVO Spanish Oil. Hope to see you back when the Patio is open! More

Was in town for business and found this gem right around the corner from my hotel. I'm a huge fan of Tapas and love to share with a group, unfortunately I was on my own so could only sample a couple but they were both superb. Enjoyed the Salmon a la Taverna and the Albondigas de Cordero, both were presented... More

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Emilio's with a large group. The experience was absolutely delightful. Emilio (the owner and chef) greeted the group and returned to the table to assure that we were all happy with our selections. The service is top notch, the restaurant is immaculate and tastefully decorated. The food was superb, portions were perfectly... More

We stopped by at 5:30PM on a weekday - it was quiet and it is a large restaurant. We ordered about seven tapas dishes, a bottle of Spanish wine, and a dessert. The waiter was excellent and all the food was served timely and well done. My wife liked the tuna canolli so much, we reordered. The food seemed authentic.... More

Locals and tourists have enjoyed small plate and freshly-made tapas at Emilio's Sol y Nieve since 1999. With regular Spanish inspired entertainment including Flamenco Shows and Wine Dinners, the lively, upscale vibe of Emilio's Sol y Nieve make it a grate dining institution to get together. And while you'll see small plates everywhere now, this tapas experience is an authentic one that focuses on helping people interact with one another.

Staying in Streeterville

Neighbourhood Profile
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
