Now that we're back in the Chicago area, there are a number of restaurants we're hoping to try. After living in the NYC area and being a big fan of Bobby Flay's restaurants there, we'd always heard a lot good about Rick Bayless and his Frontera restaurants and hoped one day to try one. I started watching Bayless on TV... More

Start out with an Old Smokey if you can handle the heat. Sombra mezcal, three-chile syrup and orange bitters, so smooth with a kick! Champagne Margarita also a hit. Chase it down with some Tropical Tuna Ceviche, Taquitos Banados and Veracruz Corn Tamales. Everything was fresh and delivered quickly. Visited in a snowstorm and the place was still packed. Seated... Lunch with a friend at the Frontera Grill introduced me to their really delicious pork carnitas and the very smooth Topolo Margherita--YUM! Their menu offers street food, entrees, salads, soups, etc. See menu picture. I recommend this place highly with one word of caution---better make a reservation, even for lunch. The service staff is very good, but they also leave... More

Was really looking forward to this and went for Sunday brunch. Chips and salsa are perfection. Great margaritas. Had a beef shoulder starter that knocked my socks off; the complexity of the flavors and everything about it was sublime. After that, I was really looking forward to the mole. I'm a big fan of mole and Chicago has a lot... More

We recently went to dinner to FRONTERA GRILL over the holidays. We Are from Chicago area and had a group of 6. So here is the scoop from locals. FOODS AND DRINKS GROSSLY OVERPRICED! Start with cocktails. Margaritas served in crappy 10 ounce low ball glasses. Prices $12.50 to $30. Are you kidding. Not that good either. Appetizers were QUESO... More

We had been dreaming of eating at Frontera Grill as soon as we knew we were headed to Chicago. Unfortunately we couldn't get a reservation so we decided to take our chances and arrived early. The hostess welcomed us warmly, and gave us tips on how to get a table at the bar, no easy feat as we were 6.... More

Four of us had an amazing lunch. We started with a ceviche appetizer that was presented on individual tortilla chips and tasted very fresh. The queso fundido was also a big hit. I had the Baja fish tacos, which were a generous portion...accompanied by nicely shredded cabbage and black beans. Lovely Mexican art and decorations on the walls.

This is our second dining experience at Frontera Grill. My husband and I love watching Mexico--One Plate at a Time, so Frontera Grill has been on our radar for a while. We stopped in for lunch before a wedding downtown that night. It was busy, but not crowded. Our server was attentive, and our food was great. I really enjoy... More

Frontera Grill is a Rick Bayless restaurant with excellent, authentic, Mexican flavors. I live in Southern California where good Mexican food is everywhere, but I will always make a trip out to Frontera when I'm in Chicago because it is that good. Try the Classic Ceviche and the Duo De Flanes... they are really tasty! It can get pretty busy... More

We had dinner here before hitting a show. Got there just as its opening, no booking available just turn up. Within 40 minutes place was jammed and this was a Tuesday night on a freezing December night so get there early. Margaritas with nachos and a chicken boquita to start, then fantastic mains, my daughter and I shared the trio... More
