A queue to get seated at the door - this could be improved, i don't really see any reason for that, there just weren't enough staff focusing on it. Beautiful room (we were upstairs), nice quiet but easygoing ambience Discreet, professional service at the table. very good food.

The atmosphere at Le Colonial is elegant and exotic with a 1930's dreamy romantic feel. The food is a hard-to-find French Vietnamese. Between four of us we had 2 appetizers, 4 meals, 2 desserts, and wine and we enjoyed every decadent bite. The ingredients are fresh and flavorful and the curry might be the best I've tried. Service is attentive... More

Sorry, this restaurant is ridiculously poorly lit - everyone using cell phones to view menus and their food. Waiters are like vultures with the appearance they want your table for the next group of customers. Average food with rushed service - never again

You can certainly pay less for Vietnamese food but this place is on another level. It has the most wonderful atmosphere...beautifully decorated and such a warm, inviting space to dine. Very old-school, fine dining service. The food is expertly prepared with top quality ingredients and everything we had was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

I went there because the reviews i've read here. Definitely a great restaurant ! Very beautiful and classic french vietnamite decor. The food is amazing. I started with chicken ravignoli, with sweet sauce of lime and as main course the excellent shrimp with curry. It was a great dinner experience, and i would love return as soon as possible

Went there with a large business group. I cannot remember when I have had such tremendous service. Not only did our server make sure she was there to attend to our drink and food needs but once we ordered the food came so quickly. Love the menu there. After this last meal it is now ranked as one of my... More

We wanted to have a light snack before our Opera experience. I enjoyed a spicy Bloody Mary while my companion had an Apple Martini. We alerted the server to the fact that we were under a time constraint so we could get to the opera in the snowy conditions. We also ordered 3 appetizers.

My husband and I stopped in here for a quick drink, during a little "Taste of Rush" tour on a very snowy night. The bartender was friendly and helpful, and made a very tasty passion fruit martini. Almost didn't feel like we were in the middle of a blizzard.

I was left to find a special restaurant for our last night in Chicago and after a bit of research came up with Le Colonial. The restaurant itself is really intimate and has a great upstairs bar with the downstairs area all restaurant with mood lighting. Service is quite good and friendly but the food fell a little short. We had one... More

Dinner with business associates. We had the food ordered for us by a member of the group who had eaten there before. Flavours were quite tasty, a little sloppy in the presentation, but friendly staff and nice drinks Recommended for a nice dinner out

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighbourhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
