I went to Trattoria Gianni for dinner before a comedy show with my boyfriend. I was thrilled they had a gluten free menu! The pasta was great. Plus, I was able to make a reservation using Open Table. The restaurant itself is a little outdated but it is cute and pretty quick.

Trattoria Gianni is a popular fine dining destination for theater-goers before and after shows at the Steppenwolf Theater across the street or the Royal George theater around the corner. Opened in 1988 at 1711 North Halsted Street in the heart of Lincoln Park's bustling theater district, owner/chef Gianni Delisi has established a reputation for traditional Italian cooking, great martinis, hand-made... Trattoria Gianni never ceases to amaze. The service is amazing and the food is even better. You can tell they take pride in their homemade pastas. I've never had a bad meal. Can't wait to go back.

Went before 8pm play at Steppenwolf. Above and beyond service. Waiter, named Mariano, I believe, aware of time so we wouldn't be late. Knew how to gage our needs, super nice. Delicious gnocchi and Ceaser salad. Highly recommend.

Perfect fresh made pasta... Delightful pizza choices... Service that was attentive, impeccable, but never rushed. Is there a better recipe for a family gathering? Don't let the understated exterior fool you. This is a great place!

Nice casual small spot great for dinner on a Tuesday before a play at the Steppenwolf Theater across the street. Dinner arrived promptly.Traditional Italian nicely handled. Pleasant waiters. Only downside: credit card machine was down. Fortunately prices are reasonable and I had cash.

Real Italian food cooked by Italians...quaint with fun outdoor seating. Good mix on the menu, with a lot of traditional dishes.

Had a wonderful meal here with family sitting outside under the stars. Everything we had was wonderful. Our waiter was very entertaining and made great recommendations. The wine list is extensive and they have a full bar. On a summer night in Chicago it's hard to beat that outside seating.

We were a group of four on a lovely sunny, Sunday afternoon looking for a place to eat before a performance at Steppenwolf Theater - what a lovely experience! We choose this spot due to its proximity to the theatre, but we all agreed that we would come back again when in the area. We sat outside in a lovely... More
